Moral Weakness and Moral Courage

In so many different ways, trainees are like children who are taught and trained from the start of there and then left to do what they are educated on their own. It is no secret that a field training officer carries the responsibility for the long-term success of an agency. Therefore a good training officer ensures that good trainees are produced at the end while poor trainers more often than not produce poor trainees who need supervision all the time to successfully complete a task. The reasons behind choosing the best field training officers in an organization comes as a result of the quality an organization is expecting from the new recruits.

Good quality trainers in most cases are decisive in their cations, have moral ethics, can endure difficult times and possess sound judgment ability. Decisiveness is more of a skill than value, but when a trainer is decisive in his or her decisions, then the trainees are more likely to make the right choice for a proper reason and most importantly, at the right time at the end of their training. Such leaders encourage students to be confident in their knowledge and abilities thereby acting without hesitation when it is the right time to respond. Integrity is another crucial value that trainers can help training officers develop. Integrity is more than just honesty as it also describes the core ability of an individual’s behavior (Sekerka, Corner & Goodwin, 2015). Best training officers are in most scenarios morally and ethically upright. When a training officer possesses such value, then he/she can help instill and educate his/her students about the benefits of integrity and ethics in a working environment. At the end of their training, an organization can boast of officers who carry their activities without going against the law.

In addition, a good training officer able to endure difficult times and can educate the trainees to become resilient in their actions after completing their training. If trainees gain this particular trait, then the organization is assured vigilant recruits who are attentive to details and dedicated to achieving the organization’s objectives without struggling constantly. Besides that, sound judgment is an integral value that every organization should possess to function effectively. The best training officers are known to be sound judgmental in their actions (Sekerka, Corner & Goodwin, 2015). Therefore, students who learn from such a leader at the end of their training demonstrate consistently their ability to make good decisions on their own and can take responsibility for the consequences of their choices without fear.

Conduct Becoming 

Searching for the residence of a fugitive depends entirely on whether the search is violating any law or any individual’s rights. Again, before going on with the search, it is important to check how many officers are available and what the response time for backup is in case the search of the fugitive gets out of hand. If these conditions are favorable and law-abiding, then I would proceed with the search since looking for a fugitive means there is a warrant ready for the arrest. However, I would first ensure that a warrant for the fugitive is prepared so that the evidence I collect is not inadmissible during the trials.

I conduct myself as if I were in a video all the time. I have been raised by parents to become a person with strong ethics, morals, and values that guide me before I do things. In most cases, I think deeply about things I would like to say or do which is why I shut my mouth when a situation arises that could make my reaction go against my morals and values. In other words, I am the same person when in a public place, in a private area, in front of anyone or at the back of anybody.

There are so many things that I have done in my life that I believe would not be appropriate in front of my grandmother. This is because my grandmother is very old and lived during times when most of the things people do currently were morally wrong during their age. Another crucial reason is that of the respect I have for her. For instance, I cannot go to her when I am drunk because it would make me misbehave around her which to me is wrong. Lastly, the type of clothes they were wearing during their times is different from the current ones. I, therefore, wear clothes that she does not seem to be disrespectful towards her personality.

I think that there should be limits regarding tolerable behavior. If boundaries are not there, then acceptable behavior would not exist. In other words, people would not know what is deemed to be bearable with limits, and nobody would know what to do to stop crossing the boundaries of other people’s lines. In a working environment, tolerable behaviors help in setting limits which in turn establishes that which is acceptable thereby affecting positively how the staff communicates with each other.

Dilemma 

The dilemma of this case has made me think about so many things that would do if the interrogation I have carried makes me believe that the suspects know the whereabouts of the five-year-old girl in question. I would first utilize the tactics of reverse psychology and check whether the suspect’s statements are still the same or if there is a slip of the tongue in the responses. I would use the reverse psychology because over the years it has proved to be one of the best methods of catching criminals who tend to lie when giving out their statement (Sekerka, Corner & Goodwin, 2015). In doing so, there are hopes that the suspects might reveal the whereabouts of the young girl who has been kidnapped.

If the reverse psychology fails to work out for me, I would seek a judge and talk to him or her to help in cutting a deal so that the little girls are found as soon as possible to the parents and before any harm comes to her. In doing so, I would give the suspect a plea bargain in exchange for the location the little girl is hidden. In the plea bargain, I will make sure that the deal contains a condition such as reducing the jail term of the suspect and include parole in the sentence so that the suspect reveals the hideout where the little girls are hidden (Sekerka, Corner & Goodwin, 2015). It is imperative to note that the most important thing, in this case, is getting the little girls back safely to her parents and since the suspect is the only person with the knowledge of her whereabouts, I think parole and prison term reduction is justified. In other words, I would go to extreme lengths to ensure that the suspect reveals the girl’s location but within ethical and legal boundaries.

Working with Individuals 

In the Institute of thoughts in regards to family therapy that I would choose on is a psychodynamic approach which is about behavioral approaches to successful family therapy. Clinton & Ohlshlager (2002) suggest that psychodynamic approach entails all the theories that view human behaviors based on interaction and forces within an individual and particularly between different structures of their personality. The primary goal of psychodynamic therapy in a family is to improve a person’s self-awareness and understanding of the pas vents on the current behaviors (Clinton & Ohlschlager, 2002). In doing so, it would enable the family to examine some unresolved events that may arise as a result of past dysfunctional relationships within the family.

One challenge that is associated with approaching individuals systematically in family therapy is that solving or improving one situation may lead to another problem developing. For example, in social work when a child is taken away from a family, there are chances that there would be another child to take the opportunity of the taken child. In the end, the problems which were being solved arise again. Again, this approach cannot work effectively in a family because a single part of a family cannot be used to understand the whole family in isolation. Since this approach tends to understand people separately, it cannot help understand a family because a family functioning cannot be understood by understanding different parts independently.

Cultures and World Views 

The chosen population is the Latino Americans. Psychological issues associated with this population are substance abuse and over-dependence on drugs such as Cocaine and Marijuana. Some of the therapeutic methods that can be used to solve problems of this population are therapeutic community approach and evidence-based drug addiction management (Clinton & Ohlschlager, 2002). Since the therapeutic community is group based it can help members of this population to identify causes of their problems and develop social competencies, they may aid them in facing their drug problems. In the evidence-based approach, the individual with the addiction problem can be provided with incentives to help them remain abstinent and modify their attitudes towards drugs (Clinton & Ohlschlager, 2002). I do not foresee any challenges with these population because I believe each individual is responsible for his or her behavior and not all. Therefore if most of them are associated with drugs, it does not mean that all are substance abusers.
