Every workplace requires employees to handle themselves adhering to a particular code of ethics. Most organizations are guided by certain values that are essential in achieving the set goals and objectives. Ethics at the workplace can are the moral codes that give the direction of the behavior and attitude of the workforce regarding what is considered right or wrong. Ethics play a role in ensuring that all employees adhere to the set guidelines and conduct themselves to develop informed and desirable decisions. Not only does ethical decision-making in the workplace take into consideration of the individual employee's best interest, but also the concern of those impacted by the decisions.

I selected the topic of ethics at the workplace because ethics play an essential role in ensuring the organization's success. I abide by a specific code of conduct in my career progression, such as integrity, honesty, accountability, and integrity. Strong ethics at the workplace tend to attract customers who appreciate honest services that will bring about more profits. Having a respectable reputation aids in building customer loyalty, which is essential in any business involvements. Thoughts

My thoughts about ethics at the workplace are that few things are essential to our lives, just like what is wrong and right. Employees at the workplace are always given a chance to choose what best suits their character traits. The ethical norms are highly disputable, and by no means are they universal. Some beliefs or values appreciated by one society may be rejected by another. The same applies to organizations. In some organizations, teamwork is not highly appreciated, as the organization may demand individual effort. For the success of any organization, having specific values leads to ultimate success. Ethics, therefore, might differ, but in the end, work to achieve the set goal and objectives.

Subsequently, to determine whether an individual is ethically responsible, some aspects such as appearance and character can tell more about the individual. Displaying proper dressing and hygiene dictates that a person is ethically responsible for themselves. Also, showing a positive attitude helps create confidence, mostly in job interviews, and can help one secure a position at any organization. Effective communication skills are also vital; hence, the importance of displaying verbal and non-verbal cues and being a good listener. Other thoughts about ethics are that everyone is pleased with the ethically endowed individuals who are likely to be promoted compared to others in the workplace. Ethics in the workplace promote peaceful coexistence and an enabling working environment.

Impact

The topic has affected me and my thinking and my feelings professionally by guiding me on the various desirable values that organizations look for in their employees. For instance, ethical thinking helps avoid the status quo and makes one stand out from the rest of the crowd. It enables one to think positively, bringing about more creative and innovative ideas. As a job seeker, I believe that upholding positive core values will put one in the limelight of securing their preferred job. Most people fail to impress the interviewing panel due to a lack of kind words such as sorry, please and thank you.

My emotional feelings are also influenced by ethics when faced with challenging situations; I tend to meditate before taking any action. The norm of seeing judging and acting has been taught to me ever since my elementary schooling days. I believe that a lack of desirable ethical norms leads to making wrong decisions brought about by poor judgment. By abiding by the code of ethics, one is likely not to be swayed away by earthly possessions but will have a stand to take when faced with any difficult situation. In my career progression, I look forward to impacting others through making ethical decisions and helping those who are cannot think ethically. Organizations should also consider individuals who are well-mannered and ethically endowed.

My Views

The topic has affected my views on my professional growth in making me a better person. My views about an organization also changed as I appreciated the roles of ethics at the workplace. In the future, I tend to major in ethics in management and how well the top management can train employees to adhere to a set code of conduct. Most organizations fail because of ethics at the workplace and a lack of a mission and vision statement. In this topic, I appreciated the value of ethics and its impact on the success of any organization.

Additionally, the topic enhanced my understanding of how well ethics enables productivity at the workplace. Ethically endowed employees are most likely to follow safety practices that inhibit any discrepancies in the organization. Ethics at the workplace will also impact the effective utilization of resources, avoiding any wastages. As a profession, ethical norms will enable me to follow the set rules and organizations. Additionally, any company that does not reliably conflict with unethical performances will constantly grieve, even if the query's misconduct is not deliberated to be fundamental by most people's verdict. Any unethical behavior that goes without being reprimanded weakens a business enterprise's ethical fabric, resulting in more significant complications than the unethical matter in question. Ethics at the workplace remains an essential aspect that determines the success of any organization and individuals.
