Legality is the law that helps make a final decision in a case as it is what should be done. Ethics is based on essential concepts established to create desirable characteristics in a human. The two principles relate, in that, ethics helps develop the laws although they contrast in some way. A facility will have ethical standards and legal standards so that they are used by patients and professional team to help run the facility efficiently (Hall et al., 2018). Ethics are based on the human view of what is wrong and right while legality is based on laws written down so that it is strictly followed. Therefore, ethics applies only at an individual level on how one sees something while legality applies to every individual using the facility. The observance of ethical matters is on a voluntary basis while legality emphasizes on following the law to the latter. Failure to follow the law results in punishment to the wrongdoer in contrast to ethics where an individual is left unpunished even when they violate the standards (Pfander, 2018)

Legality violation case

The violation of the HIPAA laws in the healthcare industry is one of the many cases that represent the breach of legality. A nurse was fired and sentenced to jail because she had leaked private and confidential information of a patient (Lazaro, 2014). The information was used by her husband who was representing a case involving her. Therefore, the husband used the information against her, but this was not legal. This lead to the nurse begins fired and jailed.

Ethics violation case

A violation of ethics case was evident between Roe vs Wade in the year 1973 (Lewis, 2016). At this point, abortion in the country had been allowed for women whose life was in danger according to the United States laws. However, in this case, the victim felt the need to perform an abortion because she did not know want to carry another burden of giving up her child for adoption as she had in the past. The court ruling made a choice not to regulate the actions of a pregnant woman during the first trimester of their pregnancy (Png & Xiong, 2017) . However, the case appears to be a violation of ethics because the right and wrong thing is clear.
