A considerable amount of resources utilized in the criminal justice system go to activities directly or indirectly to psychopaths. The term psychopath is common in institutions and is loosely used by lawyers, judges, and probation officers to refer to someone beyond correction. The term is usually used in a derogatory way, and this indicated the attitude people have towards them, especially within criminal justice and law enforcement institutions. 

Psychopathy is a condition that predicts the likelihood of future criminal and violent engagements. As a result, it is used as an indicator or risk in the justice and criminal system, and it helps in making decisions on passing the death penalty judgment, ruling on sex offenders and even making rulings in juvenile cases (Patrick, 2018). The knowledge Etiology of Psychopathy is crucial because it helps understand and monitor people who are likely to engage in criminal activities. It also helps in understanding the neuro-anatomical system that influences certain behaviors considered to be psychopathic. There are family background factors that influence the manifestation of Psychopathic symptoms. Additionally, psychopathy is manifested in various ways. From these ways come subtypes which are distanced. This information is important because it helps in the classification of symptoms into various classes of psychopathy. Without this knowledge, one may mistakenly classify a subtype of this condition into other conditions.

There are family bases prevention mechanisms that can be used to assist children with Psychopathic. For example, Patrick (2018) proposes functional family therapy designed to modify patters used in interactions between family members to encourage clear communication and minimize conflicts. Criminal justice systems can invest in these solutions to mitigate the occurrence of Psychopathic characteristics that may predispose individuals to criminal activities. Most importantly, the knowledge on the etiology of Psychopathy will help in separating this condition from other neurological conditions such as Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD), and this is crucial in sentencing a criminal.
