Evolution is a process that occurs gradually in the course of years. The modern society has experienced a lot of evolutionary changes. Consequently, human beings and other organisms have adapted to the various transformations that have occurred. Danilova, Galitskay, & Selivanovskaya (2018) argue that a ntibiotic resistance in agriculture is one of the key changes that have transpired in the field of agriculture. The use of antibiotics in agriculture has substantially lessened the efficiency of contemporary antibiotics. The overuse of colistin in animal rearing has led to the development of a colistin resistant gene in a bacterium that was derived from Chinese pigs ( Danilova, Galitskay, & Selivanovskaya, 2018) . Due to evolution, bacteria have become extremely impervious to modern antibiotics. Therefore, the majority of animals have died as a result, while the strong ones survive and adapt effectively with the harsh changes brought about by evolution.
Artificial selection is also another significant evolutionary transformation today. The process is human-induced. In the artificial section, human beings choose the organisms with the best traits to breed. For instance, the use of grafting in plants is an effective process of breeding two quality plants for the aim of acquiring higher yields. Additionally, human beings also breed different types of cows such as Holstein Friesian and Shorthorn, to give rise to a new generation of cows with impeccable traits for survival and the production of quality milk, among others.

Furthermore, a vast number of organisms have become extinct, due to the changes in their environments. For instance, tales are commonly told of the existence of animals such as dinosaurs. Mammals, turtles, and crocodiles, among other animals, still survived when the dinosaurs were wiped out ( Brusatte et al. 2015 ). Scientists attribute the extinction of dinosaurs to a large meteorite which struck the earth, impacting a change in the earth’s climatic conditions, which made it impossible for these creatures to survive ( Brusatte et al. 2015 ). Additionally, a lack of equilibrium in food chains resulted in starvation, while disease also contributed to the eradication of dinosaurs on earth ( Brusatte et al. 2015 ).
The world’s animal and plant populations have transformed due to evolution. The process eradicates the weak organisms, while the strong ones adapt effectively to the environmental changes. Immense changes in animal and plant populations are anticipated to occur in the future, as the strong survive and the weak become extinct.
