In the book of Exodus, Theophany is a significant theme. Theophany is God's appearance to the Israelites. "I am going to come to you in a dense cloud so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you" (Exodus 19:9 New International Version). I find theophany compelling because, in Exodus's book, God appeared to the Israelites in the form of storms, mountain quakes, thunder peals, and lightning flashes. Second, I find theophany compelling because, on the third day from the arrival at the Sinai, Yahweh appears to Moses to converse with him and giving him the Ten Commandments while the Israelites listened. Therefore, theophany is a shared experience of divine law.
The third compelling reason why I chose theophany is that God's manifestation becomes an everlasting process through the Tabernacle "Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them" (Exodus 25:8 New International Version). The chapter explains the plans of the Tabernacle and its importance to the people of Israel. The Tabernacle is where God's presence was physical, and through the Tabernacle, the Israelites could directly communicate with God.

I find the theme compelling because it clearly shows patience is a virtue. God's manifestation to the Israelites shows that waiting on the Lord with patience is essential in our spiritual health, and being impatient might lead us into sin. God gives the Israelites the Ten Commandments so that they should live like His chosen generation. God manifested Himself to the Israelites, which applies to our daily lives as it encourages us to establish a personal relationship with God. Standing in the gap when God manifests Himself to us, and we should not be reluctant to take up our responsibilities given to us—being alert as God has so many ways of manifesting Himself and communicating to us. God's manifestation to us clearly shows that we are a chosen nation, and God loves us abundantly and unconditionally. The Tabernacle is a symbol that God lives within us.
