The process of drug approval in Canada is elaborate and stringent to ensure that the users' safety is guaranteed. This process entails reviewing the drug by the "health products and food branch" (HPFB) under Health Canada. The drug development process text 3 significant stages phase one, phase two, and phase three (Government of Canada, 2020). After completing these three stages, the drug is forwarded to the HBFB, reviewed before it is approved. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the proposal to exploit this process to ensure that coronavirus drugs are available to the citizens in time to reduce the pandemic's effects onboard the economy and the health of the people (Government of Canada, 2020). Unlike the formulation of other drugs across the world, the COVID-19 vaccine and drugs are in high demand due to the devastating effect on the country's economic development over the past few months.
The normal process of drug approval takes over three years, which cannot be implemented under these circumstances hence the need for expedited approval procedures. I believe this expedition will help the country establish a better drug or vaccine image possible, thereby reducing the virus's effects, and it spread across the country (Government of Canada, 2020). This transition process will enhance drug manufacturers' capabilities utilizing all the available data research and resources to update the process of drug manufacturing and testing. An expedited approval process will also ensure that the drugs and vaccines are available to the public within the shortest time possible before the spread of the virus causes far more damage to the country's economy and leads to more deaths (Government of Canada, 2020). The best one given for the implementation of this new policy September 2021, an aspect that provides adequate time for medical researchers come up with drugs and vaccines for COVID-19 and therefore restore order in the country.
