Strategies that should be implemented to keep current students in the associate degree program informed about the new curriculum development

The students are one of the parties during the process of curriculum development, which play an important role in its success and thus need to be fully involved during the process. With this in mind, there exist different and numerous strategies which can be put in place during the process of curriculum development to ensure that students are informed of the ongoing development of the new curriculum. The first strategy is to ensure that the adoption, as well as the curriculum implementation, is based on the current students. This is a key to ensuring that the student' ideas are well integrated into the subsequent developments. Achieving this need that the students are involved in series of the interview which aims at evaluating their thought on the adoption and implementation of the new curriculum (Zorn, 2010). The second strategy is to develop a kind of continuous assessments and evaluation of the process and updating the students on any changes involved or new ideas which are implemented in the process. Through this strategy, the students will get new changes and what they expect from the new curriculum and prepare for them. This will also reduce any chances resistance by the students.

Strategies that should be implemented for the community and the healthcare organizations

Advertising the ongoing developments in the nursing curriculum seems to be one of the best ways through which the community and other healthcare organization can be informed of the ongoing changes and developments in the new nursing curriculum. Methods of advertisements such as radios, newspapers, meetings, person to person conversation and health talks can be used in this case to update the community and other care organization on the ongoing developments or changes in the nursing curriculum. Note, the best way to promote any health issue among the community is usually health promotion through health talks and many others. Education health talks are thus second and one of the effective ways which can be used in this case, or be integrated with other methods such as flannel graphs, slide presentations, visual aids, and many others to make the health personnel and community aware of this changes. This makes it very effective in educating the healthcare staffs on this changes and developments which takes place in the nursing curriculum. “A curriculum development talk should be tied linguistic styles such as proverbs in the local settings level. Interest and interactions should be aroused through demonstrations, role-plays, songs and discussions” (Utley, 2011).

Discuss a possible challenge for faculty who may be required to teach in the existing associate degree program and the new BSN program simultaneously

Teaching or handling the two curricula is obviously challenging for those who will be in the position which needs them to teach the new nursing and the old nursing syllabuses simultaneously during the transition. There are numerous of them; the first one is adapting to the new nursing syllabus which may have other new issues and terms which need the tutors to master for them to ensure that the students are well taught. Note, the new BSN may have other terms which are not in the old syllabus. It also may have different modes of approaching the nursing issues which are slightly or significantly different from the old syllabus, and this may be confusing. Adapting to the thus will be challenging to those who are tasked to teach the two simultaneously ( Huston, 2014). The second challenge is the time constraint. The member of the faculty serving in the two syllabus simultaneously will have torrent time and thus may be limited by the time factors to cover the entire syllabus. The time balancing must be put in consideration to ensure that the members of the faculty who are tasked with handling the two syllabus are given ample time to ensure that they deliver. Note, these individuals during their quest to have the two syllabus taught simultaneously will have to go past the obstacle such as the understanding the syllabus themselves before teaching or passing the knowledge to the student in this faculty. This will have to take them some time, and this may need them to have an extra time part for the one set for the normal curriculum. Finding time for this adjustment hence may need extra time which may not be available for the teachers.

The integration of interdisciplinary in the new curriculum development and how it will be significant to a student in understanding the new syllabus

The benefits of integrating the new nursing syllabus with other interdisciplinary are critical in enhancing the understanding of the syllabus by the nurses. The college should first identify course order that needs to be integrated. Note, the term integration as used in the education refers to construct set of relationship which is created between the learning in the nursing faculty and other subjects and skills in other faculties such as in medical laboratory science, pharmacy and much more. Integrating one faculty with another one or other often appeals to the teachers or the profession based on different rationales. “ There are those that embrace a philosophical conviction, research-based, or theoretical works that are a powerful method of practicing and learning attitudes, knowledge and funder mental skills and other disciplines.” However, what is worthy to note in the case of interdisciplinary integration is that the epistemology unity, educational unity, and the common pedagogy is still very translucent ( Black issues in higher education, 2014).

Note, in an attempt to have the new model crafted in the education system; there will always be a term or an approach which existed in the old syllabus which may miss in the new model. This is one of the issues where integration is very critical since it bridges the gap between the new model and, what may be missing in it, but is present in the new world. Wish integration in the place; the students get the opportunity of learning all the little but important issues which are present in the real world but are taught in other facilities which are different from the one which the students are studying. Other than these, there are numerous benefits which the students will get in case the new nursing syllabus is integrated with other faculties.

First, the students will enhance their ability to understand the terms which are used in their new syllabus and apply them in other faculties which are related to the syllabus and this enhances their understanding of these concepts, terms, and ideas. Further, integrating the nursing syllabus with other professional skills, knowledge, and ideas will help the students studying nurse under the new syllabus to have an ability to think critically, make a wise decision based on the new syllabus and how it relates to the other ideas in other related faculties. They will have the ability to quickly and easily synthesize knowledge as they share with other in other faculties and this will be very important for the students. Also, integrating the new syllabus with other ideas and knowledge in other disciplines will be a chance for the student’s compensate for the global interdependencies and this will be critical in enhancing their understanding of this faculty. Also, the students get morale when they learn diversely from different professional angles. They learn different skills and this are later applied in the field of nursing and thus help in improving their educational outcome in this faculty. Other than these, the students will be motivated to learn, and this has a significant influence on the outcome of the learning which cannot be ignored. It is thus paramount for the new nursing syllabus to be integrated with other skills, ideas and the field of knowledge from different faculties which are related to nursing as this is very critical in enhancing the students’ learning in this field.

Evaluation method assessing the effectiveness of a curriculum design

The best way of evaluating the effectiveness of this program or the new syllabus is the peer observation and review. This method is based on observing the members of the faculty with regards to their general performance on the new syllabus’ execution. In this evaluating strategy, the individual faculty members will involve in an interview with their peer and assess their output in teaching the new curriculum activities. To make the entire process effective, the process will be done in close reference to the feedback which is given by the student concerning their understanding of the new syllabus as taught by the staff members of the faculty. Note, this form of evaluation is less costly and less time consuming since it involves those who are already present in the system ( McCoy & Anema, 2012).

The types of data which will be needed to support the evaluations method

In the evaluation process, it is critical to evaluate the effectiveness of the method as well as to assert its importance to the process to be reviewed. In this case, both qualitative data, as well as the quantitative data, is necessary. Quantitative data are more of numerical data which are collected through survey forms and questionnaires. These are complex data which need deep analysis. On the other hand, the qualitative data are simple data which are directly collected from the interviews and others. For the peer observation and review, both data are necessary for the accuracy and effectiveness analysis of the results. The quantitative data will allow mathematical cultivating of the facts and thus will be used to support the qualitative data collected when using the mother of evaluation and this will be very effective in the analysis the accuracy of the data used.

Explain how data collection can inform course improvement.

Improving on the course is dependent on many factors, one of the factors will be the feedback of the data which will be collected during the evaluations. The data collected will be critical since the result will show whether there has been any positive step taken in the new syllabus which can act as an indicator that in the future, the syllabus will be effective. The data result will show the perception of the students on the new syllabus, their thoughts and what they would like to be done differently, or included in the syllabus to be more relevant and effective. This result is critical in improving the new syllabus since it will help in identifying such issues and correcting them to make the syllabus even better for the students ( Utley, 2011). Further, the result as given by the data collected will have the perception of the staffs on the syllabus. It will reveal where their staffs have noted an issue which needs to be improved; this is critical since it helps in either changing or modifying these areas to make the syllabus more effective.
