Facility development and management should have a blend of both the past and the present. This means facility managers must have technological creativity especially with the influx of technological tools available today but also understand how their predecessors managed the facilities in the past. They should use the success of past projects to understand how to manage the new facilities that embody new technology. Culture and trend can be used to determine how facilities are used, which means facility managers can borrow a leaf from both past predecessors and current technology.

The facility managers should ensure systems of the facility function harmoniously by using skills from both the past and the present. They need all the knowledge in managing the crowds within the facilities and ensuring the security of all people is heightened. At the same time, the facility managers can learn from their predecessors regarding ticketing and controlling entrances. However, they still need to make it more efficient and convenient better than it was in the past. For example, the traditional use of ticketing information to manage crowds is blended with the use of technology such as online ticketing.

When constructing the facilities, an important consideration is put on how to structure and place the entrance for easy crowd management. A comparison of modern facilities with previous once reveals a reduction in the number of entrances to eliminate the number of employees needed to manage the gates (Fried, 2010). In return, technology comes into play to allow spectators the ability to buy tickets without having to interact with the sellers, thus reducing the commotion or delay at the entrances.

Current facility management has several similarities with the previous ones in terms of how they are managed and the roles they serve. For example, the facilities are still being used for similar purposes such as holding sports events, religious festivals, and cultural ceremonies (Fried, 2010). They also have designated areas for the VIPs and other areas for the common people to avoid creating confusion and security breaches. The ability to bring people together in an organized manner makes these facilities an important part of a community. As a result, the managers should be well versed in every detail of facility management to make them effective in their roles.
