The book Fish! By Stephen C. Lundin, Harry Paul, John Christense mainly discusses the story of one mid-level manager called Mary-Jane who works at First Guarantee Financial. She attempts to put all her efforts towards introducing a playfully productive environment to the operations team to where she has just gotten a promotion. Before her arrival at the group, it had performed dismally thereby earning the name “toxic energy dump”. The book depicts staff who work in the backroom unit as bored, highly demotivated and uncooperative in solving the problems presented by the internal clients that they are supposed serve. The authors conclude that transformation is an essential tool in any organization and how the management can use it to improve productivity. Creating a playfully productive environment is a course that the book addresses as a solution to workplace crises such as low employee morale. Their conclusions make the book a perfect recommendation for construction managers who feel the need to change their teams for the better.
