As a club, the first program that we can use to raise funds for our operations is through organizing a marathon. Marathon, one of the original modern Olympic events that have been used for years to raise money for charity can suit our situation. Doing a marathon for fundraising can help us to raise sufficient funds that can help us to conduct our daily operations. Just like any competition, marathon is a fun way to raise money for the club where runners who will participate in the marathon will be required to raise anywhere from $ 2,500 to $ 5,000 in order for them to receive the entry ticket to the race. This money will enable our sports club to extend its activities to include talent nurturing from the age 4. The following are the ways we can organize the marathon. First, we need to fix a date and location of the event (Louise, 2015). Since our location is popular, we will need to have a backup date because of traffic and city plans. We will also need to measure the runway distance properly which ranges between short and long due to varying degrees of fitness. All obstacles, safety hazards, and challenges that may prevail during the event will be planned accordingly.
The budget of the event must be planned properly. We will need to do a research on similar events that have been conducted to estimate the amount that will be needed. These costs include administrative costs such as banners that will be put from the start to the finish line, advertising, refreshments, number of participants, movable bathroom facilities, trash cans, and awards. We will also identify corporate sponsors who will boost the event so that we begin discussing with them early because negotiating with their representatives takes time ( Sargeant & Jay, 2014) . We will also need to learn what type of licenses either medical or reliability is required for the event
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The goals this marathon is to collect $ 900,000. In addition to this, we are encouraging, motivating and inspiring all ages from different diversities to improve their mental and physical health through running and exercising. The other goal is to expand our facility in order to accommodate talent nurturing which has not been part of our programs. We will also build a specialized room that will be used with those people with obesity within the neighborhood to exercise and improve their physical fitness which will, in turn, minimize the side effects and complications of their problems ( Krieger, 2018 ).
The event will involve 150 athletes and for it to be successful we will need the warm-up crew who will ensure that the runners have warmed up properly before the race begins in order to increase their core body temperature that will speed oxygen throughout their bodies. We will also require sports physician therapists (PT) who will be responsible for the medical team at the marathon. The PT will handle any form of emergency from medical conditions to acute running injuries. We will also require first aiders since, in a running event, injuries are prone to occur. This team of the first aider will be put at the finish line with bandages, antiseptic and ice. We will also hire a standby ambulance in case of emergencies ( Sargeant & Jay, 2014).
The advantages of using the marathon as one of the programs of our fundraising are that it is a huge sense of accomplishment and the most precise program for us. Marathon helps people to feel a certain feeling of accomplishment especially after running a race of 25 kilometers. This means that most people will want to participate in this event. The disadvantage of using the marathon as a fundraising tool is that some athletes may not show up on the day of the event due to financial challenges or the sponsors may fail to honor their pledges and this means that we may end up making big losses due to the amount we have spent preparing for the event.
The second program that the club can use is to host a concert. A concert is a live music performance done in front of an audience. It is usually done by a single musician or by a musical ensemble. Concerts are an excellent way of collecting money that can help to fund our project ( Krieger, 2018 ). The type of concert we will use in the fundraising is a recital that will be performed by both local and international artist in order to stir up the audience.
For us to host a successful concert that will help us collect up to $ 1000,000, we will start by establishing the budget of the event. This will enable us to determine the size and scope of the event. We will also decide on the best venue that is affordable and convenient for the entire guests. Some of the things we will look at when selecting a venue are the cost, security and the number of people that can it can hold (Louise, 2015). Preparing the tickets and conducting registration of the attendees is the next step. Our fundraising tickets will be of three categories; regular, VIP and VVIP which will cost $ 100, 1,500 and $ 3,500 respectively with a target audience of 500. The team will ensure that at least 500 hundred potential guests are registered and their tickets are prepared.
In order to arrive at our target guests, our team will use social media network and word of mouth to spread the message of the concert. Online networks like Facebook will be our big friend for this event. Our team will develop a Facebook account and use it to solicit as many friends as possible who will also tell their friends about the concert using direct mail, word of mouth, mail invitation and phone bank ( Krieger, 2018 ). This will give us the opportunity to connect with the majority of potential attendees. Lastly, we will need a proper marketing strategy for our tickets. Just like it’s done with new products, all our tickets need to be advertised to our target audience. We also make plans to accept donations and support that is likely to come on our way.
This program of fundraising will require four committees. They include planning committee. This will handle matters of the event such as logistics. The second committee that we will have is the host committee which will be responsible for fundraising activities right from registering donors to hiring crowdfunding software. The third committee is the one that will form the event of the day. This committee will execute the event and ensure that everything is in place ( Krieger, 2018 ).
The advantage of concerts is that they are an effective way of raising funds. Concerts are popular to most people and they cover wide regions due to the effect of social media. Due to this popularity, they can help us to raise sufficient funds for our project.
The disadvantages of using concerts as a fundraising program to our sports club are that it can be costly in terms of inviting high rated artist. It can also be time-consuming. Organizing a successful concert requires full commitment from teams which are difficult to arrange and deploy time-consuming.
