The movie shows some merits like the defeat of the Nazi and it portrays how World War II went down. The film also uses some of the weapons that were used during the war. It also provides a hero and portrays the Germany Nazis to be the villain of which they were during the war. The movie though does not highlight fully on exactly what went down during the World War II. It exaggerates some facts and this makes the movie seem to be a fictional idea of the World War II. In the movie, execution of prisoners is conducted without fear. This is something that was not accepted during World War II. In the movie, Don forces Norman to shot down a Nazi soldier. Historian Stephen Ambrose interviewed a couple of war veterans and none of them had condoned with executing their fellow soldiers. This would have instituted to an arrest and appearance to a court martial. Many U.S soldiers were arrested for executing enemy soldiers. This was not a case during World War II, so the movie exaggerates that idea.
In the movie, the plot revolves about a raw recruit, Norman. He was a typist and brought to the tank crew. Someone who was not equipped and had little training about tanks and how to handle machinery. This is a concept that was not practiced in World War II because the war never experienced a shortage of tanks and trained tank crews. In the Film Norman was a raw recruit and incompetent and he is the center stage of the movie and later portrayed as a hero. This is not according to the real World War II since raw recruits were not accepted in the war.
