A brand is feature that differentiate a manufacturer’s product from those of other manufacturers who deal in the same kind of products. Therefore, she tailors the company’s services just to suit these desires. She also employs competent approaches when dealing with her customers. The Michigan and Ohio State and Leadership Grid suggests five behavioral approaches to leadership. The approaches can help explain Ganahl’s success in running the Camp Bow Wow Company. The first behavioral approach is that of impoverished management, which Ganahl does not exhibit. This approach neither focuses on the tasks nor the people. The country-club behavioral approach is one that only emphasizes on the people and not on the company’s tasks. Ganahl does not utilize this approach either. The third approach, which Ganahl does not exhibit, is the task management style where the manager lays much emphasis on the tasks, but disregards the subordinates. Ganahl balances the concern for subordinates as well as that of production. According to Sirje Virkus, this is termed as the middle-of-the-road behavioral approach, as stated in the Michigan and Ohio State and Leadership Grid (Virkus, 2009, p.1). The other approach is team management, whereby the manager shows deep concern for both the task and the subordinates. Ganahl shows this method in her leadership because she takes into serious consideration the company’s production and also the employees’ ideas. These approaches help to explain her success since she only settles on the best behavioral approaches in her leadership.
The situational leadership models claim that there is no best approach to leadership but it all depends on the leader’s competency in handling a specific issue. The models emphasize on choosing the right approach that suits the employees, the work environment, and the desired outcome. Ganahl’s success can be explained using this theory. As the Camp Bow Wow Company continues to grow, she hires key experts to help her in running the franchise (Camp Bow Wow, 2016, p.1). She also allows her staff to give their input and ideas on how the company’s vision can be achieved, in the ever changing technology world. Ganahl’s criteria for success is that of delegation. She makes sure that progress is made by making decisions that do not demean the employees nor hinder the company’s tasks. Ganahl does not overload herself with much work but ensures that every personnel is up to task.
