There have been many arguments in the United States and other nations about the legalization of same-sex marriage or gay marriage. Discussions about gay marriage are becoming significant topics of reform and are becoming very popular with recent legal reviews. Unfortunately, most societies refuse to unite gay people even if most societies find it legitimate to love a person of the same sex or to become gay. The constant debates across America and other nations are because some groups and societies feel that same-sex marriage hurts the dignity and sacredness of marriage. Others think that it is legitimate and the two groups might never come to an agreement. Speciously, some nations have legalized same-sex marriage, and others have continuously rejected it.
Concerning these discussions, I stand with the opposing side: I do not support the legalization of gay marriage. My first reason is that gay spouses will never give birth to children. The only thing they do is to adopt children. Nevertheless, all children require motivation, compassion, and role modeling from parents of different sexes for them to grow up sufficiently. Gay marriage also defiles the institution of marriage. Traditionally, marriage has been a sacred institution that upholds the relationship between men and women. Gay marriage is against the word of God and does not conform to numerous cultures, sacred texts, beliefs, and traditions of multiple religious groups in the USA and all over the world. Homosexuality has been rebuked and condemned by the Koran and the Bible that are followed by the highest number of people around the globe (ProCon.org, 2019). I have chosen these arguments because I am a Christian believer, and these arguments ted to be in line with the teachings of the Holy Bible.

The opposing side has some countering objections towards my three arguments. Firstly, the opposite side argues that the concepts of traditional marriage have been changing over time, and the true definition of marriage is that it is a union between one male and one female is becoming inaccurate historically. The opposing side argues that there have been several laws related to marriage but have been changing over time. For instance, polygamy and interracial marriage were banned, but in recent times, they are being allowed in numerous societies. They argue that gay marriage should also be legalized. They also say that gay couples can make good parents. They are obsessed with a study from the University of Melbourne, which shows that children raised by same-sex couples score better in terms of health and family cohesion. Answering to the argument one should ask these people is about how female children raised by female couples will grow up understanding the value of masculinity and how to relate with other boys in school or even how they could love men. There is a tendency that they would also become gay or get into straight relationships that will never work for them. Finally, the opposing sides also feel that legal marriage is always a secular institution that cannot be limited by religion and its objections to same-sex marriage. From my point of view, marriage is a covenant, and it is sacred. Marriage is a chief reason why people can live harmoniously in society. Governments recognize religion, and people seek religious counsel when trying to fight corruption and crime. They should, therefore, listen to it in gay marriage discussions.
I experienced two types of biases when reading the premises, those agreeing and those against my position on the topic included stability and self-interest bias. Stability bias entails various individuals with an existing status quo when there is no pressure to a specific topic of study. Concerning this bias towards the subject of research, there is the fact that society, in general, does not support gay sex marriage. When people say they are gay, society teds believes it is a taboo, which should not be spoken publicly. Secondly, the self-interest bias involves the spurs of rewarding behavior and not taking into account the larger picture of an opinion or concept of other people. For instance, I am not gay, and none of my friends is gay. Through that, I do not support anything that relates to gay marriage. On the other hand, if an individual is gay, he or she will, in most cases, start supporting gay marriage without looking at the negative consequences of the same.
I have been born in a neighborhood where people do not support gay marriage. In that society, we are mostly Christians. When we go to church or when we read the Bible w see how God punished people who were gay, I Sodom and Gomorrah. The form of enculturation that has widely influenced my biases when opposing the legalization of gay marriage.
To sum it all, the “believing the game” concept has widely changed my approach to the discussions relating to the legalization of same-sex marriage. I can think critically about the topic even if I still oppose the legalization of gay marriage. My strongest point that argues that gay marriage should be illegal is that it affects the growth and nature of children who are adopted by gay couples and marriage is a sacred institution between one man and one woman and should always be in line with religious beliefs such as Christianity and Islam.
