Gender inequality is problem both at local and global scale, and is a subject of rich social science research. It has contributed significantly towards identification of gaps in our awareness of inequalities. Gender inequality has been re-defined, explored, and re-explored, over the years by scholars and scientists, decision makers, and politicians, individual and organizational advocates, and lay community members among others.
Local and Global Scale Gender Inequality
Gender inequality at local level is manifested in different ways. For instance, women work for long hours to offer various services in their communities and homes; however, these are not usually identified as economic activities. It is clear that societies and families could not survive without these services, which is an indication that women are simply required to provide them. Millions of women worldwide have been denied their basic rights to leisure time, decent work, healthcare, and education among others. This denies individuals decent lives subjecting them to poverty, reinforces gender norms, and promotes gender inequality. Cambodia is an example of a nation that has been affected by increased levels of violence against women. Women are not allowed to leave their homes thereby hindering them from accessing social, educational, and economic opportunities ( ActionAid International, 2016).

Global gender equality is a multidimensional and complex human right, which has not been fully practiced or extended to girls and women across the globe. Gender-based inequality and discrimination including health inequalities, socioeconomic disparities, violence against girls and women, and other unhelpful traditions are continuously persistent and pervasive ( Wiranto, 2013).
Solutions
Although there are victories against inequality, gender inequality is still a problem. It has led to devastation of the lives of the most disadvantaged population and the poor. Addressing the challenges of girls and women has some support, but the only problem is that actions that influence it are inadequate and irregular. Gender inequality is a global priority that need various level of responses based on programs, education and training, services, funding, and policy that sufficiently and accurately respond to gender issues. The existing gaps and barriers warrant responses and attention from every part of society. Organizing to strengthen the power of the people in societies can defeat the gender inequality challenge. Victories have been acquired with this strategy, which has provided us with the glimpses of what is possible.
The existing stereotypes that women are homemakers only, is still a stigma and generalization of the capability of women in society. The major solution to such stereotypes is to improve the knowledge of the people on the subject because it will help to change their mindsets. Education and awareness has been found to be the best solution towards addressing gender inequality. It can be challenging to teach people how to think when they have been having a misconstrued idea regarding women in their entire lives ( Wiranto, 2013). Therefore, raising awareness to inform people about women capability is the way forward.
Suing cannot resolve the problem because gender inequality is a complex and multinational challenge that requires support from different individuals and organizations. Suing can only resolve certain local problem but the whole issue of gender inequality cannot be addressed through court ( Wiranto, 2013). Therefore, suing for gender inequality can be a failed solution.
Conclusion
Gender inequality is a problem affecting women and girls both at local and global scale. Women are denied their basic human rights such as violence against girls and women, socioeconomic disparities, and health inequalities, among others. The existing stereotypes is a continuous problem casing stigma due to the generalization of the capability of women in society. Therefore, gender inequality requires the attention and responses of various organizations to adequately address the problem at local and global scale.
