The selected for this discussion is gender inequity which relates to the unbalanced opportunities between men and women in regards to different statues or positions within the society or among a group ( Dozier, 2005) . Throughout history, social inequality has been a big issue especially when it comes to women who for long have been thought of as subordinate and unequal to men. In the male-predominated Western cultures, the issue regarding rights of women seems constant; yet thousands of years following the first confirmation of inequality based gender. Gender inequality and misogyny is a pressing issue that we continue to see relevant even in today’s culture. The ancient Greeks biologically supported their misogynist opinions. Romans legislatively demonstrated women inferiority ( Karsten, 2003) . Christians portrayed their views in the sacred text of the Bible. There are a variety of reasons and causes behind misogynist views, and the position of women in society has been exemplified in literature and legislation, dating back since ancient times and continues to exist in corporate and social settings as part of everyday life.
The first concept used in the text values and refers to the ideas that people under similar cultural background share concerning what is good, desirable, or bad. Values are general and cut across changes in situations. Humanity suffers violence in different areas in life in protection of these values. For instance, society undergoes all types of abuse from personal violence, to violence allowed by the state. Personal violence includes street harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, and rape. According to statistics gender continuum of violence mostly befalls on women. 90% of the victims are women showing a great number of the overall violence cases ( Dozier, 2005) . The rape cases have been reported to be among women and men as well only that men are reluctant to come out and report these cases. Men are very unlikely to show the feeling of fear or being afraid so that they do not appear weak in front of others. This makes them silent victims, for instance, get harassed in prisons and other areas throughout their lives. According to power inequality, the concept of the power difference between men and women could be the cause of rape and sexual entitlement. In another case, they are naturalized whereby they legitimize inequalities in an attempt to create an excuse for violent behavior. This has led to the rise of battered and feminism movement intended to deconstruct public stereotype in addition to issuing public eye and end the labeling ( Dozier, 2005) .

Another concept relates to social stratification whereby people are categorized and ranked based on three concepts that are race, gender, and social class. The groups at a different spot within the hierarchy hold different outcomes and experiences. Education is among the key determiner in ranking people. People with high education are ranked high, while the gender aspect ranks men high and women low. While in the past kitchen, fetching among other family chaos were delegated to women and they could not move past this, this has changed. The number of women enrolling in different institutions and those graduating has greatly increased over the past recent years ( Dozier, 2005) . Most university and colleges admit that the number of women graduates has increased due to the empowerment of women.
The race-ethnicity is also another variable intersecting with gender. Individual race and age have an effect of the number of women as well as men getting into colleges and university with most enrolling when they are at their late 20’s. Furthermore, social class intersects with gender for the creation of distinct rates of college attendance. The number of men in the social group is more than women showing that the number of women in the socioeconomic group is relatively low. Moreover, the number of women pressing on to benefit from education is rising especially among the poorest households. It is therefore predicted that the number of women in the socioeconomic class will increase which in return will cause women catching up with men in higher institutions.
The text also uses social media as the next concept. The spread of social media has been enhanced by the advancement in technology leading to globalization. Globalization has opened the world into a village eliminating all the international boundaries to allow companies operations to move outside its walls into the internet and other countries. Through virtualization, organizations can create and offer jobs to people in other nations at any given time. The family is another relevant concept which is adversely influenced by the movement of people in search for work. Globalization has also made people move far in the search for jobs or good life leaving some of their family members behind. Mothers experience emotional problems as a result of leaving their children. However, they have to make tough decisions as to whether to stay in poor and desperately in poverty or migrate to other nations and leave their children. Some of these immigrants have tried to bring their children with them to cater for them. They do this while risking of being caught and be imprisoned leaving their children stranded. Just like parenting, caregiving is marked by gender differences. Often, almost all the work done concerning caregiving for the elderly or ill is done by women.
Another sociological concept is beliefs. An individual’s culture influences what they engage in, within the society and outside. Beliefs are not entirely true especially to those who do not believe in them. With time they grow into a character which a person can defend since character is part of one’s consciousness. Personal values guide an individual into making an informed decision which is guided by the norms of the society. Norms are important concepts that direct the society into a good course. Societal norms act a compass within families in that they shape different family members with the help of the stipulated societal laws ( Dozier, 2005) . The language, on the other hand, is a concept that entails a system of symbols used by humans to communicate feelings, experiences, and ideas. All these can be classified under culture, the knowledge and values shared by the society. Culture can be learned or be learned and is used to designate all human creation to be passed to other generations.
Conclusion
We are living in a gendered world where issues are dealt with in a gender biased manner. The access to education has been faced with gender inequality until recent. However, the empowerment of women has made them rise past men to a certain extent. Humanity should be saved from the gendered violence within the society. Different concepts in the book “Gendered Worlds” helps to understand the classification of human characteristics. The concepts are broadly classified as a culture, socialization, and social stratification. Furthermore, these basic concepts help to understand the social and gender inequality within society and more so help in solving the resultant problems. Empowering humanity will help to eliminate violent acts in the community thereby helping to create a family. The socialization aspects help people to get connected and share ideas as families, peers, through different channels including social media platforms across different nations.
