Genesis 1-11

The first eleven chapters talk about God and the creation of the world. In the beginning, God created heaven and earth. Later on, He created a human being in his image. After seeing the man was lonely, He created him a helper by the name even. Even came from Adam’s rib. The creation of Adam and Eve was God’s blessing and vision to the world as He told them to go and fill the earth. God is a blessing and a jealous one; He had given Adam and Eve everything they wanted, but He had warned them not to eat the fruits of a tree that was found in the middle of the Garden of Eden. However, despite being warned, Adam and Eve through Satan in a symbol, ate the fruit. Eating the fruit was a contradiction of God’s creation, and since they wanted to know what is right and evil by themselves, God cursed them for disobedient. Adam was to eat the sweat of his hard work, Eve was to give birth in pain, and the snake was to scroll all over with no legs. Also, the child of a man was to be bitten at the ankle by the snake, and the man was to hit the snake by the head when they find it.

Despite the contradiction of the creation, God is merciful. In the era of Noah, He gave people across the world another opportunity. He wanted to bring blessing to the world to those who trust in him and choose his way. Also, even to those who decide to go on their routes, God promises them a good life, and if they repent and acknowledge God as the creator, they will be blessed and have eternal life. Thus, the eleven chapters are God’s plan of setting the world into motion and also introducing the next chapter of him and Abraham.

Genesis 12-50

As a way of restoring the world, God uses Abraham. Abraham is the symbol of faith, and he was named as the father of nations. When Abraham moved away from his home, he was blessed double more than he was before at his home town. When Abraham obeyed God’s command, God made a covenant with him. The covenant stated that God was to bless every person in the lineage of Abraham. Before making the covenant, the journey of Abraham is categorized into four sources. In each of the journey, there is a human failure which is linked together with God’s commitment to bless and rescue. The sign of God’s being there for a person despite his failure is a way of showing that He is a God of another chance. For example, when Abraham got a son Ishmael, God forgave him and blessed him with his son Isaac. Also, at the end of the fiftieth chapter, the Bible says that “You planned this for evil, but God planned it for good, to save many lives” (Genesis 50:20).

Further, at the end of the book, God promises a good time. For instance, there will be a king in the lineage of Judah. The kind will rule over the nations and in return, re-establish blessing in the whole world. The promise is real because Jesus, who is the Israel Messiah, is the king of the kings who rule the life of the people to date.
