Epidemiology lies at the center stage of public health. In Georgia State, the Department of Public Health Epidemiology often keeps check of the health occurrences and conditions that affect the people of Georgia. This is done to put in place measures to control these occurrences, reduce the health impacts, and keep Georgia citizens safe. On January 24 this year, the Georgia Department of Public Health reported to an epidemiological case it was closely monitoring, of virus outbreak –Corona Virus also Covid-19. The Georgia department was coordinating closely with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which also required mandatory reporting of the virus stats.
The Corona Virus originated from Wuhan in China in December last year. According to health reports from the department, CDC and from medical researchers, the virus originates from a family of other infections, some of which attack animals such as bats and cats, and others like Covid that attack the human respiratory system (Patel, 2020). This outbreak was linked to a seafood market in the city of Wuhan, after which it was reported to infect many people, thus indicating a person-to-person spread through body contact, sneezing, or coughing without covering once mouth.

The Novel Corona Virus was reported to present itself through fever and other respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, sneezing, and also in some cases, pneumonia. Its symptoms were confirmed to appear in the whole fourteen days. Concerning this report, the Georgia Department of Public Health advised the healthcare providers to e on the lookout for patients from the virus hotspot then China (Wilder-Smith, 2020). They instructed that an early detection presented a better chance to control the spread. The health department also issued a set of instructions such as regular hand washing, social distancing, self-isolation, refraining from touching one's face, and continuously disinfecting surfaces to control the spread.
