A group discussion is a communicative situation that involves a small number of people connected with a basic idea, meeting up to share their individual views and opinions on the main topic. On the other hand, talking about hobbies could be a very good topic for a general group discussion. People will always have something to say on a topic concerning music as it raises people’s mood during the discussion.
In conclusion, I agree that certain topics such as religion or weight and physical appearance are inappropriate to be brought up in a general discussion because I have unfortunately seen people get into conflicts because of such delicate subjects of the matter. On the other hand, such issues as education, hobbies and music are relevant topics of discussion as they are general. People should consider such when choosing a good topic for debate. Suitable topics of discussion could even end up being screening techniques in hiring people for a job.
