A crime is an action that constitutes offences that are punishable according to the law. This paper aims at explaining a crime from a newspaper or an online source and then use two theories to explain the type of crime selected from the newspaper.
The type of crime chosen is from the New York Times newspaper, from the report, a former Google star and an engineer of Uber is charged with theft and secrets of trade, Mr. Antony Levandowski who was previously a sought after technology guru at silicon valley, is accused with Uber for failing to meet terms of trade after Uber had sought him for self-driving techniques on their vehicles. Antony is later charged for trying to steal trade secrets from Google in the making of Ubers autonomous vehicles that has contributed to a dispute between the tech companies because it’s a usual for a company to sue its former employees, Antony having worked at Google before.

According to the report on the crime, Antony is accused of downloading more than fourteen thousand files which contain very critical information used by Google on their autonomous vehicles (Isaac, 2019). He made the transfer of the files which was not authorized, moving the files directly to his laptop. Some of those files he is accused of downloading include the design for sensing light. From the crime report, conflict theory is seen to have been used in the explanation of the crime, this is seen through the conflict of interest that is existing between the tech companies such as Uber and Google, and both of the farms were conflicting over one person. Control theory of crime report also comes out from the report; it was used by the author to show how Mr. Antony broke the code of conduct by sharing vital unauthorized information to his personal laptop that was considered a deviant activity.
