Groups have different dynamics of operation. Those in attendance in group meeting are often required to come up with a standard ground where it is possible for them to put their skillset together to work to reach a common goal harmoniously. In a work environment, a team meeting can be instituted to brainstorm ideas for improving sales or a sports team coming together to emerge victoriously. Fortunately, enough such teamwork was expressed diligently for us to achieve an in-depth analysis of videos: “the Politics of Sociology” and “Planning a Playground.”

The discussion intent appeared so clear to the group members that did participate. The available group members were well prepared for the discussions. The meetings were lively, and questions were promptly answered. Most of the group members had worked on the assignments, and as such, the discussion became thorough with a majority providing great insights. Due to well-prepared nature of the group members, the discussions were so lively and informative. Divergent views on the subject were easily addressed to an amicable point of the solution. Everyone participated equally in the discussion except for two members who were not present during the meetings. The members present were open to different points of views, and they kept discussing the opinions. The group was cooperative and worked in unison and thus provided a conducive environment for proper operations. That immensely amounted to the success of the team. My fellow team members will agree with me that the team was highly productive in its discussion. The apportioned time appropriately and made efficient use of it. We achieved our resolutions and the all the issues of the problem were solved in a timely fashion. Moving forward, there will be a need for us sometimes to see the points where we are in the discussions. Also, getting in touch with every individual in the group to present their ideas before meeting times can help prevent wastage of time and aptly coming with effective resolutions. With that, the members that fail to attend the physical meeting shall have had an opportunity to air their views. Group cohesion is of crucial importance in attaining the principal objective of the team. Being aware of the members of the team who will not be present, we will get in touch with them sometimes in the week and ask them if they can participate in the assignment day by being online for the classroom discussions.

Video Analysis - "Planning A Playground"

This group experienced great cooperation and compatibility together. They immensely understood what their aim was. No major issues came up apart from agreeing that we ought to have done more research before the meeting. The communication was exceptionally well permitting every individual to speak and thus raise amicable solutions to the matters at hand. We had a great leader that assisted us in staying on course and in discerning what’s best to attain the goal.

The conflict realized was constructive. They made much sense that they needed the financial backing to be and in the manner to begin raising the stores. The crucial indicators were the cooperation and communication between each group part (Forsyth, 2018). It was essential to provide feedback and generate ideas to think of the financial allowances. The group had a collaborative style of attempting to pool plans to attain a typical goal for the playground.

The group needed to have performed more research on the playground. They ought to have gotten the actual cost and settled on the model of the playground. They could have utilized laptops and develop the proposal. Currently, if I were the leader of the group, I could have contacted many organizations that could help with such like donations.

Video Analysis - "The Politics of Sociology"

The issue in the meeting was that people did not agree on a single final decision that every member would comply and like. They communicated promptly with each and listened to the opinion of each member.

In the video, I noticed a lot of competition, avoidance and compromise. Phil and Ray noticeably disagreed since Phil wanted to keep the class and gave a suggestion it needs to be removed. David and Betty had minimal issues but once it got to the final say and everyone seem to agree. In the video, David was a definite and clear leader. The leader requires attaining the focus on a single last idea that each person could agree with and develop a way forward.

As a leader, I would state some things that my group members are saying. As a leader, I need to have a vision, drive and commitment to attain a goal in the group. I can come up with active management styles to achieve some target. The leader further needs to be flexible, adaptive and in a position to face different types of situations incorporating setbacks, failures and challenges in a relaxed and calm manner (Certo, 2015). . It is essential to extract work from every member of the team and delegating specific tasks in accordance with the capacity of each. Further, there is need to employ effective communication to achieve the target of the discussions quickly (Northouse, 2018). As a leader, I would work on schemes of motivating my members and keep their morale on high to work efficiently achieving their goal.
