Implicit bias has recently been blamed as one of the major causes of discrimination as well as research findings that cannot effectively address the targeted problem. Unfortunately, implicit biases are inevitable mainly because many people are ignorant of them. It is not easy for researchers to eradicate implicit biases. Many critical decisions that are made by individuals involve cognitive centers and emotional areas, which always lead to a conflict of interest and some unconscious biases (Coz g rove, 2012). Therefore, I believe that some level of biases characterizes administrative approvals of research findings and reports and making decisions on a research topic. However, it is essential for people to accept that implicit biases exist and try to minimize their impact on research findings.
I think the issue of bias can substantially compromise the quality of findings of research articles on healthcare. Biases can make the researcher subjective and unfair when collecting data, doing data analysis, and when he is reporting the research findings. Hence, biases make researchers publish research outcome that serves their interests, leading to skewed healthcare outcomes. The issue of bias, therefore, compromises the quality of published research articles on healthcare outcomes. Nevertheless, even though it is necessary to evaluate the credibility of the author of a research article, I may not take time to determine whether the author works for a health care institution or a neutral organization such as a university or government. Finally, I believe that bias can be overcome in the healthcare environment and on the political stage when researchers and experts in the areas maintain high levels of objectivity. They should ensure that the information collected and used is reliable and credible.
