Technological advancements are taking place in various health centers. Most of the hospitals are currently updating or completely changing their systems from traditional analog to modern digital systems. When selecting the right health IT system to use in any healthcare facility, it is vital to have a clear strategy that is concerned with the value that the proposed health IT system will add to the hospital ( Seckman, 2016). Coming up with an appropriate strategy will depend on conducting a valid assessment of the healthcare challenges and opportunities for the proposed technologies. Stakeholders play a great role in digital migration and they can be described as persons or groups of people who have valuable information on how the health IT system operates or people whose operations within the healthcare sector will be affected by the decision made on which health IT system to be used ( Gree, 2018) . Stakeholders are some of the best sources of information on which to select a health IT system and the technology strategy on how to use it.

The information that the stakeholders have can highly influence decision making on which health IT systems to be used. Some of the stakeholders who will be involved in the selection of a health IT system are;

Goals and interest

Clinicians: The clinicians include the,

Nurse

Physicians

And allied health staff.

-The goal of the clinicians is primarily clinical and also operational in some way. This is due to the fact that they are the actual people who will handle these systems when giving services to the patients ( Seckman, 2016). ). Therefore, it is vital to allow clinicians to even test the system before it is actually bough. In addition, it is important to include at least one or two clinician representatives on the selection team when acquiring a health IT system.

Board members/administration: Board and executive leadership is made up of

board members

chief executive officer

chief medical officer

informatics leadership

pharmacy director

Legal counsel and more.

The board members or the C suite will play a vital role in furthering the health IT system to be acquired. This is a section of the healthcare organization that has a great role in the management of employees as well as finances ( Braunstein, 2014 ). The administration and the board can be pulled into the process of health IT system selection to offer insight with financial support. They are the ones who have to authorize or sign paying slips before acquiring any system within an organization.

Their goal is mainly concerned with financial approvals and sees to it that the best deal is got at a fair price ( Braunstein, 2014 ).

The interest of the board members or administration is to see that a good selection of a system for the organization is done.

This will ensure that the organization does not undergo bankruptcy in the future and that they are not left in a hard financial situation struggling to make ends meet.

Marketing team

This may seem a surprise but the fact is that the marketing team can be highly affected by the health IT system selection ( Seckman, 2016) . Some of the health IT systems have excellent features such as appointment reminders, automatic scheduling, or online patient portals. These are unique features that can act as great marketing opportunities and the team should be aware of them for promotional purposes ( Pereno & Eriksson, 2020)

The goal of the marketing team as stakeholders is operational and financial in the essence that promotional activities bring more patients to the care facilities.

The interest of marketing team is to add value to the health IT system selection since healthcare practice is compromised of so much more than just giving care to the patients ( Seckman, 2016) .
