Summary
Every professional has a unique style of leading that they use to bring organizational success. This research was done to find out whether healthcare quality measures and leadership styles were associated. Data was collected from eighteen articles from the EMBASE and Medline databases (Sfantou et al., 2017). The research question guiding the study was aimed at finding how leadership styles in the healthcare setting affected quality care. The Institute of Medicine identified six characteristics of quality care as being effective, patient-centered, equitable, efficient, reliable, and safe (Sfantou et al., 2017). The study realized that effective leadership was key to reducing patient mortality rates supporting and retaining their experienced employees who, in turn, facilitate quality care in healthcare settings. The research found transformational leadership to be strongly related to the implementation of effective management and successful outcomes (Sfantou et al., 2017).
Support for leadership
Transformational leadership is one of the best leadership styles in the contemporary world. I support the research findings as transformational leaders are seen to be transcendent to their need to ensure they foster the growth of their organization by being a source of commitment and motivation to their subordinates (Smith, 2015). Such leaders help in realizing organizational success, employee empowerment, and ingenuity, employee performance. As such, these leaders could easily influence their workforce to help in realizing the quality care aspects of healthcare.

Relation to nursing practice
The article relates to nursing practice as it informs nursing leaders on the best leadership style to use to ensure their workforce is motivated innovative. The study is also evidence-based showing that the results can be duplicated by other nursing leaders. It also informs nurse leaders on the importance of balancing leadership at the workplace with other healthcare skills to improve their patients' outcomes.
