A high performing team is a group of individuals sharing a common goal and vision. This means that the team is aware of what they want to achieve and where they are headed. Therefore, the team will produce satisfactory results in their activities. The team can freely express their ideas and feelings since they work towards similar goals. Each member understands his/her task well, and through teamwork, the objectives of the business are accomplished. A high performing team follows the following steps. 

Benchmark. This assists in understanding the characteristics of active teams which enables a business to prepare better its team to support its development. Some of the benchmarks to ensure excellence include: First, alignment towards a shared vision. The team members understand their roles and responsibilities. Therefore, a secure connection among teams’ activities exist. Secondly, empowerment. A sense of power given to team members is necessary. It enables them to make decisions and gain access to resources they require to accomplish their task. This will guarantee the success of the business. Third, passion drives the team. This includes enthusiasm and confidence which gives new capabilities for change and openness.

Charter. This focuses on the reasons for the existence of the team. It provides clarity to the members and also identifies the missing element. The purpose of the team charter is to define the mission, scope, purpose, consequences, and the time frame of business. The team must understand the relevance of their existence, what they are charged to do, the time they will need to accomplish a task, and accountability to achieve the objectives of the team. This will help to mitigate miscommunication issues through the team process. 

Diagnosis. The team diagnostic helps to explore needs of every single member. This involves assessing the preferences, characteristics, and performance of individual team members which are compiled together and for comparison by each member. The team diagnostic is built on factors that stimulate positivity and improve productivity. The positivity competencies include trust, respect, diversity, communication, optimism, and constructive interaction. Correspondingly, the skills for productivity involve team leadership, alignment, goal, resources, accountability, and decision making. These competencies will result in sustainable and high performing teams. 

Match. The best leadership style is identified and applied to the business to enhance success. The most famous techniques used in businesses include participative, transformational, Laissez-Faire, transactional, and autocratic. They are helpful in providing directions, motivating members, and implementing plans. Leaders should identify the best style which will impact the members positively hence motivating them to work efficiently. This will help in minimizing risks hence the success of the business will be enhanced. 

Sustain. This is used to develop the best strategy for enhancing a high performing team. It involves focusing on goal attainment and task completion. The team members are motivated and knowledgeable about what to do. Hence, I sustaining a high-performance team, the leader should understand the working environment and to factor downtime for long-term high performance. 

The PERFORM acronym abridges the conducts that guarantee a high performing team. They outline the essentials of an efficient team. 

Purpose and value describe the team shared a sense of mutual drive. They understand what constitutes teamwork and its relevance. A representation of what the team intends to realize and the values and norms that will direct them are described. The approaches to achieve the objectives are defined. 

Empowerment encourages the team’s involvement and initiative to overcome obstacles in realizing the purpose. The members are given access to the information they will require for their mission. The members have a sense of mutual respect which promotes sharing of responsibilities, and through teamwork, they take the initiative to encounter trials. 

Relationships and communication help to identify respect and understanding among teammates by identifying mutual grounds for handling conflict. The team is accessible to relevant information that facilitates effective decisions. The team members will express their thoughts, opinions, and feelings without fear. The differences between opinions are valued, and methods of solving conflicts are identified. This helps members to recognize each other strengths and weaknesses which improves the team cohesion. 

Flexibility explains the different ways of performing and adapting to change. The members realize the inescapability and attractiveness of transformation and adjust to the varying situations. The leaders respond to the desires of the team. 

Optimal productivity ascertains the team that produces useful achievements through decision making and problem-solving approaches. The job is completed well, and targets are met to achieve the goals. The members have developed strong skills that promotes task accomplishment. 

Recognition and appreciation are used to value the contribution of the team. Members feel appreciated and valued which give them a sense of personal accomplishment regarding their roles in the team. 

Morale is evident when members are confident and enthusiastic. They are devoted and passionate about the future which gives them a sense of pride as well as excitement about their individual and group achievements. 

The optimal productivity and morale are essential qualities of a high performing team. Members should be motivated to work towards ensuring high performance for their teams. This will maximize productivity and success of the business.
