Comprehensive healthcare delivery refers to an integrated approach to health care that seeks to treat an individual as a whole and not merely the symptoms and the ailment. Marsh (2015) defines a Holistic approach to health delivery as a better way of healing an individual’s body, soul and mind. A Holistic approach is one of a kind since it is different from other approaches whose main objective is to only cure a person’s body. However, according to a Holistic approach, body and mind are inseparable and integrated (Marsh, 2015). The holistic healthcare practitioners do more than basically diagnosing and treating a particular disease. Usually, they are comprehensively trained to observe various aspects of a person’s health issues, lifestyle, and scheme a treatment course to assist an individual in attaining the optimum levels of wellness. A holistic approach to healthcare provision stresses the connection between the mind, body, and spirit to the well-being of a person as a whole. The principal aim of this approach is to achieve the maximum wellness, which ensures that everything in an individual's body functions well. Additionally, holistic healthcare is an ancient philosophy that dates back to native India and China. These ancient traditions emphasized on the human beings’ commitment to lead a healthy life in harmony with the natural environment.

Holistic health cannot be termed as a form of treatment on its own, but it is known to be a concept that offers guidelines on the proper application of therapy. Notably, the concept elucidates that it is important to maintain good health by considering all the components that make up the physical body. As such, aspects such as emotional and spiritual well-being are to be considered to attain optimum wellness that incorporates the whole person instead of only focusing on the disease or physical pain (Marsh, 2015). The fundamental principle of holistic healthcare approach postulates that being of good health is far more than just not being well. A straightforward elaboration of this principle is to view wellness as a continuous sequence along a line. The line, in this case, illustrates all the possible aspects of well-being. Therefore, by understanding the causes of dissonance in one’s health, adjustments and modifications can be made and good health, as well as balance, can be restored (Shi & Singh, 2013).
