America has for decades experienced homelessness problem. Homelessness is not a new phenomenon in the major United States cities like Texas where there are very high population. Homelessness is common amongst the non-whites minority in America. The homeless people are often the outcasts, immigrants and the minority tribes. The government and the general public turns a blind eye to this community living in the streets. Homelessness in the united states is mainly caused by family breakdowns, drug addictions, mental illnesses, and financial inability. The homeless population of interest in this paper is Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi is a South Texas region coastal city of the United States. Corpus Christi has a huge population that is homeless and it continues to grow with time. Collar-Times study revealed that Corpus Christi population constituted 850 homeless people in 2020. The increasing trends of the Corpus Christi homeless population is worrying and there is urgent need to find sustainable corrective solutions.

The five sources are peer-reviewed research papers. These are academic research papers retrieved from reputable academic sources. The fact that my sources are peer review makes them credible. I have also ensured that my sources are as recent as possible, with all the articles dating only back to 2016 up to 2019. These are journal papers published by credible journals, including Public Health Nursing Journal and Psychological Services Journal, Environmental Justice Journal, Mental Health & Prevention journal, and Military and Veteran Mental Health Journal. The sources can be found in different academic databases, including Research-Gate and Science-Direct databases.
The research paper Hubbell (2017 ) is about the provision of better healthcare to the homeless. Hubbel describes homeless people as being vulnerable in the Americas and experiences disparities in terms of access to advance care planning. These populations are huge, and they have unmet health care needs, including unrelieved suffering. The author presents the scientific records that homeless people experience high-risk levels for morbidity and mortality. The study revealed that trials of the standard clinician intervention with homeless persons show effectiveness in attaining advance directive completion and surrogate designation decision-maker. The homeless persons also showed concerns about family member notification and burial. In another study, Rose's (2019), the author examined the poor health conditions of the street children and lack of sheltered homes, which risks their health further. These problems are likely to be solved by proper healthcare facilities like Corpus Christi.
In their study, Tsai, O'Toole, & Kearney's (2017) projects that there were over 550,000 homeless people in 2016, and the figures have been rising. The authors justify the need for studying homelessness as a persistent American problem. The author also suggests interventions and research methods to bring transparency to how psychology would be important in enhancing homeless services. In the same spirit, the study by Cima & Parker, (2017) examines the impact of homelessness and unstable housing on adolescent health. These two studies are specifically important in suggesting viable solutions to solving the current problems Corpus Christi experiences at the environment and management levels. The last article is by Tsai & Rosenheck, (2018). Tsai & Rosenheck (2018) discuss both risks experienced by the homeless, the role of the government in service delivery to the homeless, and the strategies to prevent homelessness in America.
The most applicable research design is the correlational method. Correlational research design is where the research tries to determine whether there is a relationship between two or more variables. In our case, we are interested in determining the relationship between being homeless and health risks. Cima, M. J., & Parker (2017) applied correlational research design. The study aimed to describe the relation between service utilization and the statewide associated costs of homeless adolescents. The mental health associated services were responsible for 40% of the costs, a small subpopulation of the sample was responsible for 28% of the costs with all the participants reporting mental health-related issues.
The main causes of homelessness in Corpus Christi is the abuse of drugs. While there are instances of drug abuse in America, it has been a major problem in Corpus Christi in the recent years. Statistics shows that drug abuse is rampant in America. Of concern is the use of heroine that has skyrocketed, raising the national attention, especially amongst the young people. Corpus Christi is part of the drug abuse problem, and this has led to so many people finding themselves homeless.
Sociology studies involve data collection, analysis, and discussion. Scientific studies take a lot of time and resources. Such studies are usually protected by the owners, universities, and the academic world in general. It is good practice to seek authority before using these sources. However, it is never easy getting consent from research owners. It may take several months or years before a researcher gets access to the content owner and the appropriate permissions. While most researchers would want to ignore asking permission and use other people's work without permission, it is unethical and uncalled for. While this report has used content from five peered resources and referenced where appropriate, that is not enough, it is more prudent to get direct permission from the research owners.
