Juvenile Youth Juvenile correctional facilities are charged with the responsibility for custody and care of young offenders. Imprisonment of children impacts their psychological, physical well-being and relationships with other officers in charge. The psychological effects of juvenile correctional facilities include poor emotional development due to fractured family relationships. This may lead to youth's risk of self-harm, increased levels of hostility, and depression ( Payne & Bryant, 2018) . The physical impacts of juvenile incarceration are associated with an unhygienic condition caused by overcrowding. The problem contributes to the spread of infectious diseases. The correctional facility also contributes to the poor officer-inmate relationship. The youth develop multifaceted ways of coping with the isolation, a process that leads to violence for basic items such as food and space ( Payne & Bryant, 2018) . Due to constant violence, the officers are forced to use coercive power, resulting in further deterioration in the relationship.
Maximum-security prisons Elderly The maximum-security correctional facilities are used to house criminals serving long sentences. The facility has a negative physical impact on the elderly. Accessing medicine and geriatric services is a problem because of security concerns. The problem also hinders the elderly from using specialized equipment and gadgets such as walkers, making it hard for them to move from one place to another ( Payne & Bryant, 2018) . The psychological impacts of the correctional facility are stress subjected to the elderly by the young prisoners. They are sexually molested and physically attacked. The correctional facility is highly watched, and this affects the relationship between the elderly and the officers. As a result, the officers might not realize their needs. Nonetheless, the officers generalize the inmates making it hard for the elderly to be treated based on their individual needs, such as specialized healthcare.
Minimum Security prisons Transgender The minimum security prisons house petty offenders . The physical impacts of the facilities to the transgender include sexual molestation. For instance, in minimum security correctional facilities that house male prisoners, the transgender population experiences constant sex attacks ( Payne & Bryant, 2018) . The population also experiences harassment, violations, and different forms of assault. On the psychological impact, most of the transgender inmates are experience stress and depression due to consequences of the self-identifying issue. Minimum security prisons affect the relationship between inmates and the officers. For instance, it is associated with the generalization of genders based on their sexual makeup. The problem leads to a lack of understanding of the need to protect the transgender from sexual-aggressive heterogeneous inmates. The problem has subjected most of them to different forms of hardships without the knowledge of the officers.
