Critical thinking refers to the process of analyzing the objectives of an issue as well as evaluating them to formulate a judgment. Therefore, it should be advocated as its incorporation could be essential in leadership. Those in authoritative positions need to ascertain the dynamics that encompass a setback before they develop a solution that could aid in its resolution. Analysis of the usefulness of critical thinking entails determining its advantages when it comes to effective leadership.
Firstly, critical thinking should be adopted in leadership as it is makes it possible to understand the logical connections between ideas. In other terms, a leader needs to ensure they can relate different ideas so that an overarching recommendation can be made that appeals to the suggestions made ( Park & Han, 2015) . I selected this reason as it enhances a leader’s ability to be creative. Secondly, critical thinking is relevant as inconsistencies in the reasoning process can be defined. A critical thinking process entails a set of steps that when employed allows analysis of the thought processes ( Tinsley & Navarrete Moreno, 2017). Thus, mistakes made can be established for better reasoning. I selected this reason as it makes it possible to critique the weaknesses in idea development. Thirdly, it is crucial as it enhanced identification of relevance of arguments being proposed ( Dumas, A2017). As a leader, one is always exposed to differing views and understanding these viewpoints allows the decision-making process to be more informed.

However, there are associated disadvantages that come with enhanced adoption of critical thinking. Some of them are a reduction of impulsivity and the process being time-consuming ( Schedlitzki & Edwards, 2017). Evaluating the relevance of critical thinking in leadership was influenced by personal bias. Confirmation bias and anchoring bias. Anchoring, for instance, comes about as I base my judgment on pre-existing knowledge and experiences. Confirmation bias, on the other hand, refers to basing my beliefs on views that I already hold.
In conclusion, this paper showcases that our views and beliefs impart the stand we hold in different issues. When it comes to critical thinking, I am of the opinion that its uptakes should be encouraged due to its positive impacts. Therefore, leaders can be able to function more efficiently once they have mastered critical thinking skills.
