A student must have the proper time allocated for all the activities, whether entertainment or learning. We need to prioritize things, and we should keep in mind that the myth of multitasking does not work during this pandemic as if we will try to do it later. For instance, replying to an email in the middle of a zoom class can make one miss something important. This implies that multitasking is task-switching needs time and cognitive capacity (Croxton, 2014). We need to spend time on our well-being as well, which includes good sleep and exercise. It is good to do our essential tasks during our high energy when our mental health is at its peak. Whereas many barriers exist in my life that can prevent me from being productive at college, I am working to reduce these barriers.
My strong point has been my Google Calendar. It has kept me accurate to dating and has shown me what commitments should prepare me for. Then I have only filled in the gaps that remained between daily activities, appointments, and class hours with the preparation sessions, preparation of material, among others. These hours have been limited. Therefore I have been attentive to how the time should be distributed among the different projects to arrive with the due preparation in content and quality (Nasrullah_PhD & Khan_PhD, 2015).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
As Francis Bacon said, "Knowing how to choose time is saving time." This has helped me so that the results at the end of the quarter are optimal. Once I can finish this, which is important to me, I will enjoy the time that I spend walking with my friends and family, going to the movies, or having unnecessary talks for hours.
Communication plays a vital role in a student's success. According to Croxton (2014), it helps them in their career development, social networking, and interviews. Communication helps a student stand up individually and learn more from lecturers and increases the quality of being friendly and reduces peer pressure (Croxton, 2014). It further enhances their leadership qualities as it enhances teamwork and helps them develop a sense of professionalism.
Having these two qualities of time management and good communication can help a student overcome the barriers in day to day as a student and general aspects of life. For instance, if you have the quality of proper time management, you can perform various tasks in a single day. However, we need to complete all the tasks with concentration and accuracy for this to be possible. For example, we can study and do other activities within the same day if we give proper attention to both things during their respective timings. In the same situation, if we have good communication skills and our schedules clash, we can discuss it with our team and tutors and look for a suitable solution.
Following this semester's experience, I need to draw a plan for the next semester, which I can follow to stay on top of the class ( Nasrullah_PhD & Khan_PhD, 2015) . Firstly, I will need to observe time management. I will try to prioritize and schedule my work. I will use outlook and Google planner calendar for these activities so that there is no a lot of events coinciding that I will need to undertake.
Taking notes will also be a helpful step in my plan. Try to jot down the crucial points during the session, and mostly during this pandemic, where I will be having virtual learning classes will be significant. I will try to note everything so that you can remember the key points for a long time.
Another critical element in my plan will be being prepared. During this time on e-learning, we often tend not to take references or any sort of text resources with us which might result into lacking behind so It's better if you keep on checking your study material and mark important things during your classes which will surely help you to rock your semester.
Joining groups will be a crucial aspect. I believe this is a very effective activity for academic success and social development as it will help you clear your doubts and revise the lessons at the same time. I will come across new techniques and strategies to learn. It will even help me develop my communication skills by socializing with different students and making my experience memorable (Croxton, 2014).
Taking care of myself is one of the entries in my plan. One of the very most important ways to succeed is good well-being. I shall take into consideration that I do not feel anxious or exhausted while studying. Good sleep, right diet, a good amount of water, exercise is a path to success.
In between study, sessions are also significant aspects. To be successful, we can choose a fun option of using notecards which you can read anytime while you are getting bored or just for 10 minutes before you sleep, while waiting for something and for today's generation who are stuck to their phones we can take them to our notes reminders or even can play quizzes by downloading some apps like Kahoot, Quizlet which makes learning easier and friendly.
I will use as many resources as possible. I will try to look for a different way to fetch knowledge and test myself. This can be done through the mock tests or the exam bank papers uploaded online through journals, online learning resources e-books, which will provide me with more in-depth knowledge of a particular subject.
Most importantly, I will strive to be punctual with my things as this is the first and foremost habit of a professional and an achiever. I will also use Keynote so that I record the audio and can mark, highlight on the slides for better learning.
In conclusion, this semester offered me great experience and lessons. I have noted that I should lean good communication and time management skills. These skills will help me make my career successful, be a competitive job applicant, and build my network. Although it takes time and practice, communication, time management skills, and proper planning will make me a top student next semester.
