The research will focus on research articles from different online databases. These research articles will help answer the research question. Several mainstream media houses are biased when covering stories involving the government or a particular group of people. In the recent past, there have been numerous researches conducted about the influence the media has on the perception that young people have on the government and society. The influence may be positive or negative. The research articles will guide and show the factual details of how the media has affected young people's attitude towards the US government. The selection process will be critical to the success of the research.

For this research, only articles from the past six years will be selected to provide actual and reliable information since the influence has changed over the past few years. In addition, a minimum of ten articles related to media influence on the perception of youths towards the US government will be required to ensure that the research is broad and comprehensive. Utilizing many articles will ensure that this research covers a wider area to make sure that the correct findings are obtained. The articles will clearly identify the media's role in creating the distrust that young Americans have developed towards the government.

Measurements

The study has two variables, a dependent and an independent variable. The independent variable will include the media's role, while the dependent variable will include the growing distrust the young Americans have with the US government. The variables will be measured using the available research articles from the Umass Boston Healey Library and other internationally acclaimed databases such as Research Gate, Sage, and Jstor.

Each database contains unique information about the American youth, media, and government. The keywords used in the search include a combination of either "young Americans," "media," "US government," “distrust,” along with "relationships." The keywords will be used to screen the entire databases for the relevant research article.

The previous variable measurements never included social media, which has become another news outlet due to technology's exponential growth. It is a field that most young Americans are interested in; thus, it will also be focused on. This research will also employ concurrent product measurements to analyze the finding of more than one research article simultaneously.

Data Collection Methods

Collecting the relevant information will depend greatly on the type of data collection method used. In the research, a systematic review of the available literature will be conducted. Using the keywords will produce the relevant articles that will be used in the study. Careful analysis of the relevant available research and obtaining their findings will help in drawing a comprehensive conclusion to the media's role in the growing distrust of young Americans to the US government.

A systematic review will help the study collects information about already conducted research. It will contain a qualitative analysis of the articles that will help understand the measures of the variables. The findings of the studies will be carefully examined to develop a conclusive answer to the research question.

Ethics

All types of research as guided by research ethics. These ethics normally ensure that the appropriate methods are used during the research. Unlike primary research, systematic literature reviews do not collect any personal information. Instead, readily available and free documents are used. A systematic review incorporates different research articles from different authors. The main ethical issue in systematic reviews is plagiarism. In this study, all the authors of the research articles used will be properly credited to avoid plagiarism. Crediting the authors shows their contribution to this research. Additionally, crediting the right authors will ensure that the findings of the study maintain originality.
