The hospital has a plan to improve its services through three projects. This proposed improvement has been motivated by the evidence-based practice where the hospital will first conduct research on each before implementing the findings in its daily practice. The three research projects proposed by the hospital will help in improving its service provision. This is a large hospital that is already benefiting the public through various healthcare services. However, there is always a need to explore possible areas of improvement. Through evidence-based practice, which is already being implemented, the facility will be able to conduct successful research and implement its finding. In the first project, the aim is to get an estimation of the community’s male population suffering from a form of sexual dysfunction. The second project involves determining the efficiency of the hospital’s admitting and billing departments at dealing with customers. Finally, the hospital will determine the concerns that its potential panel of physicians has before becoming part of the organization. In this report, the three proposed projects will be analyzed in terms of how they will be communicated to the market segments and the expected improvements on how the organization relates with the public.

Urology Department Project

Here, the hospital, through its urology department, wants to expand its services by setting up a sexual dysfunction clinic. Before venturing into the project, the department wants to know the estimated number of men from 35 years-old to 60 years-old suffering from the dysfunction. The hospital serves a large community with a large number of targeted populations for this research. Therefore, the department will need to roll out an adequate plan of reaching out to all the males within this age bracket. Secondly, sexual dysfunction is stigmatizing disease than many patients would like to remain silent about or speak about to somebody they trust. The researchers will need to earn the trust of the participants by assuring privacy and confidentiality.

Sampling and Methodology

The first step in this research is to identify the target population and recruit the sample participants. In this case, the sample population has been identified to be all males in the age group of 35 to 60 years. They will be recruited from the community, an area within the hospital’s reach. It, therefore, means that all the households within the area will be included in the study. Nonprobability sampling method will be used because all male members in the community within the defined age bracket will be part of the study ( Etikan, Musa, & Alkassim, 2016) .

Communication

After choosing the study sample, the second step will be to communicate with the participants on the plan and details of the project. This step aims to have the participants have clear information on the project’s purpose and understand the intended benefits of participating in the research (Friesen, Moser, Loo, Beurskens, & Bours, 2015). For effective communication, the project team will have to be precise and persuasive and also emphasize on privacy and confidentiality. The sample population consists of people with different levels of education and areas of expertise. Not all of them have good knowledge of the healthcare issue being studied. The team should start by explaining the function of the urology department, how it helps the population, and how the proposed change will improve its functions. Secondly, the participants need to know about sexual dysfunction and the specific one being targeted by the study. The participants will then be taken through the planned study and their role so as to know what is expected of them. While educating the participants, the project team will need to be comprehensive enough, clear, and direct to the point.

Sexual dysfunction is a delicate matter that many people would not like to discuss, at least with people they do not trust. This means that the project team must plan on a communication strategy that will make the participants trust them with some confidential information. The team should start by assuring the participants that all their honesty and openness are important, and any information they give will remain confidential (Moreau, Kågesten, & Blum, 2016). Since the hospital’s primary target is to establish an estimated population, the research team should not document any identity other than age. The participants will be free to disclose the needed information once they have trusted the hospital researchers with their information.

How the Project will improve the hospital’s Relationship with the Public

First, the project’s communication process will involve establishing trust between the hospital and the participants. The researchers will only get sufficient data once the public believes in the objectives of the project (Friesen et al., 2015). Therefore, the first benefit will be an improved relationship between the public and the hospital. There are many people suffering from various forms of sexual dysfunction but do not want to seek medication due to privacy reasons. In this case, the hospital will have communicated its commitment to privacy and confidentiality, making many patients within the community to trust the process.

Secondly, the proposed project will lead to improvements in the hospital’s services. The community hospital plans to open a new clinic to deal with patients with a specific type of illness. This facility is already large enough serving the community well. Improvement in its services will assure the public of its commitment to providing high-quality care and promoting general population health. Its reputation will be enhanced, making the public free to participate in the hospital's programs (Moreau et al., 2016). This is an evidence-based practice project that will benefit both the public and the hospital.

Primary Care Medical Group’s Project

The hospital’s primary care medical group wants to establish whether the billing and admitting departments greet patients and service them well during their visits to the hospital. This is another EBP project aimed at improving the hospital’s customer services. Greeting may sound like a simple process whose importance is easy to ignore. However, it serves a critical role when dealing with clients or customers. Starting a conversation with a greeting helps to prepare a friendly environment which increases the patient’s confidence and trust in the services provided ( Friesen et al., 2015) . Implementation of the project’s findings will, therefore, improve the hospital’s relationship with its patients.

Sample Recruitment and Methodology

Planning for the project involves getting a suitable sample size and recruiting participants. The hospital is large and serves many patients in any given time. Therefore, it will be impossible to collect data from all the clients. The Primary Care Medical Group will need to choose a favorable sample size to represent its patients and collect data from them ( Etikan et al., 2016) . The selection process should consider patient factors such as age, gender, nature of service the patient is seeking, and the frequency of visits ( Moreau et al., 2016) . Probability sampling method would be the best approach in this case.

Communication to the Marketing Segment

There are factors the Primary Care Medical Group will have to consider while communicating about the project and its purposes to the marketing segment. The participants will need to know the reasons for conducting the study and how it relates to the services they get from the hospital. After recruiting the participants, the project team will need to educate them on the basic procedures of the hospital regarding customer treatment and how the study’s aim is to improve the process. The team will be dealing with patients with different cultural backgrounds, education levels, and types of illnesses, age, and gender. These are factors that will determine the kind of questions asked and the time is taken (Friesen et al., 2015). For example, the researchers will need to take the shortest time possible with patients with critical conditions because they may not want to take more time in a conversation.

During the study, the participants will need to understand that the project is meant to improve the hospital’s services and not a spying process. Due to the nature of this project, some people may think that the department is trying to spy on some staff members and withhold some information or give inaccurate data. Asking questions about the nature of service received and whether one was greeted in the beginning can sometimes sound creepy. It is important for the patients to understand that a great service involves adhering with the simple conversation rules and the hospital is committed to offering the best (Friesen et al., 2015).

How the Project will improve the hospital’s Relationship with the Public

This project will improve how the hospital relates to the public by having a staff which knows how to communicate and relate to the customers as well as increasing patient satisfaction. Good communication skills are crucial requirements in any job that involves dealing with customers. Employees must know how to deal with different types of patients and make them satisfied with services offered. Through this project, the primary medical care group is trying to assess its staff’s communication skills and improve on the possible weaknesses. The team understands that a good interaction between two parties starts by exchanging nice words. By greeting a patient first, a friendly environment is created ( Friesen et al., 2015) . The patient will feel valued and become free to express any concern. A good relationship established will also help in establishing patient trust in the whole treatment process.

Through this project, the hospital will improve its reputation and patient satisfaction with its services. People seek services from places they feel valued and respected. Greetings followed by appropriate servicing are ways of showing a client that his/her visit was important to the organization. By implementing the research findings, the hospital will be able to assure its clients of their importance to the organization. In return, patient satisfaction levels will improve with many clients preferring the organization as the primary care provider.

Managed Care Organization (MCO) Project

The hospital intends to have a competent panel of physicians who will treat its enrollees. It is trying to recruit new physicians to the panel. The purpose of this project by the Managed Care Organization is to identify any concerns he physicians might have before they agree to join the panel. The hospital already has a team of experienced physicians serving the community members. However, the size of the hospital continues to expand meaning that it need more staff. The organization is also acting on its mission to be a top service provider by having the right physician to patient ratio ( Friesen et al., 2015) . To get top physicians, the hospital will need to know the current market demands and concerns and act on them.

Sample Recruitment and Methodology

The MCO will be targeting a pool of physicians within the market. It needs to attract the best ones available. The sampling method here will be nonprobability because all physicians have equal chances of being included in the study. However, the project team will only collect data from a small sample of the physicians. Non-stratified, equal unit and single stage sampling method would also help ( Etikan et al., 2016) . Once the participants have been recruited, data can be collected using questionnaires or interview questions.

Communication to the Marketing Segment

The managed care organization will need a clear communication strategy to address the participants and to get accurate information on the physicians’ concerns. The physicians will need to be taken through the project’s plan and the hospital’s intention to improve its services. Arranging interviews and distributing questionnaires will be effective in collecting information from the physicians to know the concerns they might have in agreeing to be part of the organization’s panel. The MCO should also have participants from the existing hospital staff to get information on what the hospital currently offers and the new emerging concerns ( Friesen et al., 2015) . This way, the hospital management will know how it ranks in the market and areas that need improvement.

How the Project will improve the hospital’s Relationship with the Public

This project will positively impact the patients, employees, and the hospital by building a stronger relationship. First, addressing the concerns raised by the physicians will make them be willing to be part of the treatment panel. The physicians will also be motivated to work to the best of their ability ( Friesen et al., 2015) . Productivity of the hospital’s employees will improve thereby leading o better patient care. The public will be more satisfied with the hospital’s services.

Conclusion

The three projects will greatly improve how the hospital relates to its employees, patients, and the general public. Through the urology department project, patients with sexual dysfunction will get treatment from care providers that they can trust. The primary care medical group’s project will enhance communication skills among the hospital’s employees. The third project by the managed care organization will address physicians’ concerns, thereby motivating them to put more effort. In the end, the hospital’s service quality will improve, leading to enhance the relationship with the public. The marketing director will need to ensure that the projects are done correctly through proper communication, planning, and benefit analysis.
