According to Edward, the Western People had an imbalanced notion which affected their attitude and how they felt about the Middle East People. It is imperative to acknowledge that due to the differences in culture and technological advancement in the two different regions, it is quite easy for an individual from the Western World to assume the incompetence and inability to understand the changes that the world has been experiencing over the years. Although the world orientation is used by Edward to represent different issues related to cultural assumptions that the western world has generated over the years about the people from other parts of the world and more specifically the Middle East, it is apparently clear that it refers to the various angles of enlightening the world about the need for egalitarianism. 

In regards to power, orientation has significantly managed to align people according to their knowledge rather than according to their racial, social or political affiliations. It is apparently clear that the Western world has significantly managed to influence the other regions through its extended growth in technology, its wide democratic representations, and literacy levels as well as the ability to change the world though the use of financial resources.

In a personal capacity, the theory significantly affects my way of understanding in different ways. For instance, I have understood that a regions growth in technology, democracy, human rights and gender representations enables people to develop their critical thinking process while at the same time preparing the society positively for change. In this way, human beings in the regions where the highlighted principles have dominated have managed to exercise power over the rest of the world because of their unity of purpose and their ability to use the available national resources to influence change in the rest of the world. The Middle East is a perfect example of how the Western world influences the world through the power it derives from their previous successes.
