Personality is a combination of behavior, attitude, personal beliefs and social characteristics in the way individuals express themselves. There are different types of personalities exhibited by individuals, especially at workplaces. They may be creative, playful, powerful or strategic. Therefore, communicating with each group requires a proper understanding of their features and characteristics to ensure effectiveness while avoiding conflicts in workplace communication. For example, dealing with sensing type of personality which is characterized by optimism, talkativeness and highly active requires a high degree of specificity, conciseness and incorporating visual aids in communication to ensure effectivity.
Effectivity in communication with different personalities is resulted by understanding the individuals and enhancing personal relationship in order to ensure inclusivity in the workplace . Failure to understand and relate well with different personalities may result in conflicts and misunderstandings which have negative effects on work organization and output.
