The first video was of a nurse with poor communication skills. Besides, he was disorganized and not sure of the results that the physician required. As a result, he kept hanging up on phone without excusing himself. Also, the place was noisy thus creating communication barrier. Admittedly, the communication in the video in question was ineffective, and an improvement is required for that nurse to be effective on his career. On the other hand, the conversation on the second video was successful. Consequently, the two parties were able to understand each other easily. Certainly, the individual communicating was composed and informed of the details in question. In comparison to the first video, lesser time was used in the second video, and the message was effectively conveyed. In response, nurses should be not only concise with their reports to the doctors and other staff members but also have active communication skills to both patients and staff members.

At every clinical site, communication is vital and inevitable. For instance, I was once at the Cath lab where I found a patient who wanted her port to be put in place. The patient had come with her son caretaker to take care of her. Additionally, the patient was diagnosed with cancer, and she was not willing to undergo treatment. The son was worried and stressed out of her mother’s health. Suggestively, the son requested the port to be put in place so that his mother would go for a chemotherapy session. However, a colleague took time to educate the caretaker on why his mother was unable to partake food. Apart from verbal communication, pamphlets were also used to ensure the message effectively communicated. Additionally, information on palliative care was offered as an alternative measure. Likewise, the patient was also educated on what she was going through, and the best way to treat her illness.

Correspondingly, with the aid of her son, the patient agreed to go for cancer treatment. In conclusion, the communication was effective, and thus both the patient and her caretaker understood why cancer treatment was better than palliative care. Generally, the two videos are significant for the nurses since they show how communication should be in a hospital setting. The essence of excellent communication skills is evident. Moreover, preparedness and adequate information before a conversation are equally important. The second video contains vibrant details on how data should be communicated in a hospital setting. It is an excellent point of reference whenever an individual want to convey information concerning a patient’s health.
