This personal strategic plan includes broad goals and objective and states the array of actions that will get me on the right track in the next one year. I will use this plan to identify the task and tactics to be achieved to meet my 5-year goal as a Chief Human Resource Officer. My personal strategic goals are to:
Develop communications skills
Develop decision making skill
Practice Conflict management
Learn routine and structure
Learn Provide equal opportunity for each person and Make workers each fill uniquely safe.
The actions needed to accomplish the above goals will inspire my confidence’ to practice my profession as chief human resource officer (Bryson, 2010). It is my responsibility to read and understand this plan every time. I will have daily weekly and monthly assessment to ensure that I meet my strategic goals. I will also get feedback through my friends, and co-workers to note areas that need additional effort. My role in the overall plan is to follow the implementing directives while my friends, classmates, co-workers, and mentors will support me in my aggressive plan to meet the objectives.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Goal 1. Developing communication skills
Objective: To become an active listener
I intend to improve my communication skills by learning to be an active listener. I want to learn to give the speaker undivided attention and acknowledge the message spoken. My major weakness is that I speak a lot, which may affect my communication with senior managers and followers.
Strategies
I will make a deliberate choice in my daily conversations with friends, family, classmates coworkers and lecturers to hear the word that they say and the complete message they try to pass across. I will do this by repeating the words mentally as they say them. I will also reflect on what is being said and provide feedback in the form of questions after each conversation.
I also intend to read books on the active listening to understand more about it and know the areas where I need help. I will also consult with my mentors on the best books to read since there are several books out there on communication skills.
I intend to get daily weekly feedback on communication from classmates and co-workers. If my friends report that I have an active listener in my conversations, I will add more skills to turn my weakness into a strength .
This objective will require financial resources and human resources in such as friends and family. I intend to read a book each month for a whole year to improve communication which will be funded by my income. I will also visit my mentor in March, June, September, December to help me asses my state.
Goal 2. Develop decision-making skills
Objective: To be less impulsive
Objective: To learn routine and Structure
I face a host of challenges because of being impulsive in the decisions that I make. I might spontaneously decide to read instead of going out for a walk with my friend. I may also make HR decisions spontaneously without looking at the consequences. My goal is to become less impulsive which is an organizational tool that helps managers to focus on specific interventions (Perkins, Holtman, & Murphy, 2014).
Strategies
I will write down weekly goals on the first day of every week to help me prioritize my time. The written down goals will help managers to ensure that their actions reflect the values that they write down for themselves (Ghani et al., 2010). I will measure them against my impulse every month. The written goals will act as values intentions and commitments and tasks that support these goals.
I will sit down every last Saturday of the of the month to consider my actions for the previous month. I will assess whether I followed the listed priorities, what went well, the challenges I faced in making decisions and what I need to do better. The reviews are done in January and June to find what works best for me and make changes where needed in the second half of the year. I will keep and color code a calendar with daily, weekly and monthly events to prioritize my attention.
I never get enough sleep because of the work and school. However, this must change since it makes me vulnerable to impulsive acts and decisions. I intend to get the recommended 7 hours sleep every night. Having enough sleep will help me appear calmer and focused on my scheduled activities.
Being less impulsive is a behavioral problem hence will require less financial impute. However, I need people to get daily, weekly and monthly feedback. I intend to read two books, one in January at the beginning of the year and the other in July on impulsive behavior and decision making. However, I will spend the rest of the months in behavioral change.
Goal 3: Conflict management
The objectives under goal (2) will help me to avoid conflicts and procrastinating on conflict management.
Strategies
A good calendar helps in organizing people and work to ensure important things are done first. However, I still need to read books on procrastination and conflict management.
April and August will be months of training and workshop on conflict management. This training will take the first week of April and August. I will also use the last weekend of April and August to visit retreat centers with the team that I work with in my non-governmental organization to help the needy.
I will save money for training and workshop from my monthly income. I will also take advantage of my networks to get the best training and workshop sessions. My network includes co-workers, classmates and online friends.
Goal4: to provide equal opportunity for each person.
Objective: To make each worker feel unique and safe.
I intend to learn the essence of working with teams to understand the unique ability of each member of the organization. This strategic plan also helps in creating ways that will improve my relationship with people around me and unity at the workplace (Baloch & Inam, 2009).
Strategies
I intend to read course materials and apply them in my approach to relationships at work and in school. I will also use role models who have gone before me to understand how to allocate duties and work with teams.
I Intend to use 1 hour on Thursday of every week in May June and July to study the stories of teamwork and team spirit. The documentaries I intend to watch are based on the book Leading at the Edge: Leadership Lessons from the Extraordinary Saga of Shackleton's Antarctic Expedition by Dennis Perkins , Margaret Holtman and, Jillian Murphy (Jackson, Schuler, & Jiang, 2014).
In general, this strategic plan will be a one-year step to becoming the best in five years to come. I believe I have all the resources regarding finance, internet, and people to help me overcome the challenges that I currently face in my journey to a career in human resource management. I will assess what I have learned at the end of July to identify the areas of weakness through a self-evaluation test. At the end of each year, I will sit down to evaluate my overall levels of improvement before moving to the new year.
