Electronic portfolios provide users with a platform for information sharing using different media forms, including text, pictures, and videos. Students who pursue health-related courses find it advisable to create an online portfolio as profiles where they can engage and network with their professional peers (Chamblee et al., 2015). Using portfolio texts for purposes of resume sharing can be an interesting experience. A resume summarizes an individual’s career life and achievements as it has recorded and attached evidence of various stages of involvement. Since resume acts as background information of an individual, it needs to be exciting and comprehensive to leave an impression of the resume holder. According to Ring, Waugaman, and Brackett (2017), creating an e-portfolio resume serves the purpose and ensures that you receive the desired impression from your audiences. My first-time experience creating an electronic was when I was doing a resume for a job where they preferred online portfolios to just simple written curriculum vitae with a cover letter. I could not find anything interesting to add to my portfolio other than my passport-sized photo. I had to seek help from my friends having a great mastery of information technology who guided me through the process, and it was successful.
Creating an electronic portfolio appears tedious work when you have never done it before. However, with a little practice, it becomes interesting as you become familiar with the procedures necessary for creating an electronic portfolio. I found it tedious to follow all the guiding instructions the first time without reading the online guide. The lengthy process makes it difficult for those who are inadequately conversant with computer skills such as creating videos and attaching them to other platforms. However, after practice, I began enjoying updating my resume. The study Leahy and Filiatrault (2017) state that electronic portfolio grants you an increased online presence and you always have all relevant information about you stored online where you can always share it and retrieve it just by clicking a link. As for the case of a resume, it enables you to easily share and network with potential employers and organization as electronic portfolios are quite interactive and interesting for your viewers.
