Social change can be described as any significant alteration in a given group's cultural values and behavior patterns over time. Among the significant social alterations that have significantly affected the world to the present is the abolition of the slave trade, the industrial revolution, and the introduction of the feminist movement. The critical role played by social movements, community development groups, grassroots organizations, and advocacy groups in inspiring members of different societies to create social change is currently common knowledge ( Schatzki, 2019 ). Purposely, the write-up will discuss my findings after a discussion with the notorious advocacy group in my community to learn about the group's roles, intentions, and outcomes regarding social change.
According to my findings, any change process starts by altering the perception of the targeted group of people towards a given subject. For instance, people can only be motivated into working hard and improving their states of life by creating a platform for them to intermingle with others living in better conditions than them. They can also be motivated by creating awareness about the pathetic nature of their lives, problems, both in terms of health and socially, a catalyst that can move individuals out of their comfort zones ( Schatzki, 2019 ). On that note, community development groups can sustain any change process as long as they ensure the target population continues to feel that they need the transformation. Although they are the initiators, advocacy groups are usually responsible for sustaining change.

Given that the world is constantly changing, communities are usually required to continuously alter their operations techniques to fit in the global society. Therefore, community development organizations will continue to exist to help initiate various change processes that can never reach an end. I never noticed the need for my visited organization to change its functioning techniques since they are, so far, yielding effective results in their attempts to alter the functioning of people and authorities to better society. As a human service professional, I can asst the organization cover a broader circumference in having person-to-person talks with targeted populations to fasten and make social change processes effective.
