Monotony hinders progression within a working environment. M any organizations tend to be dynamic by introducing certain changes once in a while as a way of avoiding monotony and in the process helps to improve the services and products being offered by the organization. There are many forms of changes that can take place within an organization. These include technological and human resource changes among others.

The healthcare environment has experienced a rapid growth in technology over the years. There has been introduction of many important aspects such as electronic health record systems, remote monitoring devices, and high-tech patient simulators (Hussung, 2016) . The management is required to be responsible for introducing these kinds of changes and ensuring that the whole staff is generally conversant with the changes (Marquis, 2017) . Moreover, it is the work of the management to ensure that the staff is well trained to adapt to the newly introduced changes.

Similarly, the staff is required to be dynamic and readily accept the introduced changes for the success of their firm (Thomas, 2015). These technological advancement has served to make work easy for the staff. Availability of records of patients globally is an advantage, enabling a practitioner to easily administer treatment and there by take care of larger number of patients. It has also served to give nurses an easy time as they go about taking care of their patients thus ensuring patient safety.

The major reason for such kind of change is usually to make work easy for the concerned players that is both the patient and the staffs. It also serves to hasten the process of treatment, increase availability of information, safe record keeping, and improve in quality health care within the organization (Thomas, 2016). Technological advancement has been able to achieve this status.

As a nurse I have been subject to a lot of these changes at my previous station at Jefferson Place. As a long-term care facility and rehab for the elderly patients, I was in charge of taking care of patients from different walks of life. The management introduced technological changes as a way of improving the services being offered in the firm. Technology has made work easy, eased the process of service delivery, and improved general patient care services in the firm (Thomas, 2016).

The facility also came up with an abuse policy. This policy was clear that voice tone, rolling eyes, and allegations of abuse from the patient would be considered as abuse. This policy had a big impact on my role as a nurse because it was shallowly described. The policy was not clear on describing an abuse and forms of abuse with only some major forms of abuse being highlighted. The practitioner was not exactly considered by this law and it only served to protect the patient and appeared inconsiderate of staff. Therefore, the stuffs were discouraged from doing their job as required. The staff were generally afraid to do their jobs since it would jeopardize their source of income. Some staff even decided to quit and the facility had poor retention of staff.

In my view the introduction of an abuse policy could have been better handled by the management. Secondly, the leaders should have involved the staff in the whole process from the beginning, provided ample training during the introduction, and considered the staff more in the policy making. The leaders must also be willing to embrace change (Carucci, 2016) .

At some point the Office of Internal General was notified of an abuse and the facility got issued with a state tag where they could not admit new patients until the allegations of abuse was found out to be of less substance. The OIG came to a conclusion that the allegation was of substance and the facility was issued with an immediate jeopardy tag which implied that they could not take in more patients until the entire staff was retrained on abuse policy and what the facility considered abuse.
