True, in human relationships, forgiveness does not require reconciliation. In some cases, individuals forgive each other, and reconciliation happens automatically. However, people should know that forgiveness and reconciliation do not always take place. Sadly, individuals have to accept this reality. In my opinion, reconciliation is a process, and the most appropriate approach is to allow one time, in order to regain the broken trust. The perpetrator plays a role towards reconciliation, considering that, their attitude and behavior after they are forgiven matters a lot. Forgiving people does not guarantee that things will go back as they were. It does not always lead to reconciliation. Human relationships are difficult, and while people should desire for reconciliation, it does not always happen.

The Bible in Matthew 18:21-35 reminds people they should always forgive others, regardless of the offense committed. In fact, God has always forgiven humans whenever they commit sins, and he expects them to reciprocate. However, people are selfish, and they do not live according to the teachings of God’s word.

Personally, I have always forgiven people who have wronged me, unconditionally. Especially when I was still young, forgiving others was quite easy. Notably, now that I am a young adult, I have tried to live by that forgiveness principle. Whenever I forgive people, it means that we have reconciled. I do not hold anger towards them, and I consider them as my friends just as they were before. I have always believed this is the best way to heal and to reach out on others. Even so, I have come across people with no feelings, and always determined to hurt me. They wrong me, they ask for forgiveness, I reciprocate, but it does not end there. They repeat the same mistake, and it becomes a habit. It has reached a point and I have realized that, the best way is to stay away from them. Forgiving them countless times does not help the situation. Through such experiences, I have learned that forgiveness is a complex thing. It does not expect one to hold grudge against someone, it hurts and equally expensiveness. It only sets a platform for reconciliation.
