How much time do you think this project will take, and do you think this is feasible? From the point of time involving grant money to your project’s conclusion, how long do you think the process will take?

The research project into homelessness in Corpus Christi, Texas, cannot be complete without financial and chronological projections. The reflection aims at establishing the feasibility of the project by focusing on its costs, timelines, and ethical implications. The project’s scope, which is wide at about 1,304 km², means that the timeline and financial resources may be considerable. The researcher will require traversing long distances to get the requisite information, which translates to more resources and a longer timeframe. It is important to note that the homeless are not based on a single location, but rather they are spread across the city making the tracing all the more difficult. Chandler (2019) establishes that homeless individuals are “all over the city from downtown to Flour Bluff” as they look for a place to spend the night. In line with this distribution, the researcher will roughly need one month to conduct surveys and come up with credible findings. The researcher will need two more additional months to collate the results and come up with a comprehensive report that is reflective of the homelessness situation.

Discuss how you will consider the ethical implications in releasing your research findings to the public, providing specific examples

The researcher will be aligned with research ethics, which will be evident in the way the research findings will be released. There will need to maintain the anonymity of the research participants considering that homelessness is a difficult social issue. Most people think that homeless people are lazy and irresponsible, who have contributed to their unfortunate circumstances. In line with ethical considerations, the researcher will only consider the scope of homelessness in Corpus Christi and context-specific factors. In the case that the researcher will face ethical dilemmas, especially for substance abusing and criminal participants, the researcher will choose to forego the criminal aspect (Sandu & Frunza, 2018). It is important to note that at this point the researcher is only concerned with establishing the scope to inform policymakers making the other social issues a further research study.

How much of a budget do you think this project will need and do you think this is feasible? Consider if the research is something you can do entirely on your own from the desk in your home, or whether you will have to travel to gather data.

The research project is quite extensive, considering that its scope is wide stretching from downtown to Flour Bluff. In this case, it means that the researcher will spend a significant period traversing the city to capture the actual number of homeless people for policy decisions. The considerable amount of time that will be spent in collecting data, collating data as well as presenting research findings equates too significant financial resources. The project may use up to $3,000 money, which would be used to prepare questionnaires, travel, lunch, printing, and at times feeding participants.

The research cannot be completed from home, considering that it is more of a survey and an observation undertaking necessitating traveling and documentation. The estimate is feasible since the project is innovative, and the researcher has presented a plan for tackling it (Patil, 2019). The research findings will inform policymakers to construct homeless shelters that cater to all the homeless people in Corpus Christi.

How does your research impact your current career goals? Describe any potential effects the research would have on your current career goals, or how it would support your career goals and interests

The research project will influence my current career goals since I am interested in a career in federal budgeting and planning. I need to know which areas require more funding to attain social and economic equality. Homelessness continues to be a significant social issue not only in the US but also in other countries, and having credible statistics could inform policies. A study into the state of homelessness in Corpus Christi could be reflective of the situation at the state and the federal level. I hope that in the future as a federal government planner, I would use the findings as a roadmap to tackle the issue of homelessness in the US.
