Findings

Based on the graphic that has been presented above, it is important to take note of several key findings, which would help in defining the overall value of quality improvement within the health care environment. The first key finding reflects on the fact that quality improvement ought to be considered as continuous process that seeks to involve different levels within a health care organization. Tsai, Orav, & Jha (2015) argue that quality improvement reflects on a standard through which to identify some of the key areas that are likely to impact on overall quality outcomes with the sole intention being towards making necessary changes. In this case, the quality improvement project is likely to impact different levels of stakeholders including management in health care facilities, communities/patients, nursing leaders, and nurses.

The key objective for any quality improvement project ought to be working towards defining the overall prospects of improving on the standards of services not only for the patients but also from the perspective of the patients (Sacks et al., 2015). Basically, this means that it becomes much more viable for the managements, within health care environments, to come up with effective standards that would allow them change the way they respond to possible areas that affect the quality of services offered. Another key finding from the graphic reflects on the fact that improvement of quality ought to be viewed as an approach focused on building trust with regard to the working relationship among nurses. Nurses have a key responsibility of promoting trust among their patients to aid in advancing overall confidence that patients may have with regard to the health care environments.

In most cases, this would mean that nurses would be expected to focus on creating a major shift in the way they handle some of the key issues arising within the nursing environment. An example can be seen in cases where nurses are expected to define the overall standards of how they would respond in cases where patients are exposed to risk factors that are likely to affect their overall health wellbeing. The third finding reflects on the fact that nurses have a key responsibility towards marketing nursing to other groups within the health care environment as a way of enhancing the overall possibility of collaboration. Berkowitz (2016) points to the fact that for nurses to be able to achieve set out results, one of the key aspects that they ought to consider is the need for them to work in interdisciplinary teams.

Interdisciplinary teams are described as teams that are comprised of person with a wide array of skills and capacities, which would allow them to build on overall levels of confidence in the way they handle arising issues. Quality improvement is an aspect that considers the need for nurses to operate within such teams as a way of ensuring that they focus much of their attention towards finding relevant solutions to some of the challenges noted. The ultimate result that working in interdisciplinary teams would have on nurses is that it will create a major shift in the way they advance their capacities as part of their standards to dealing with possible issues affecting quality standards in the nursing environment.

Recommendations

Based on the findings, it is important to focus on several key recommendations, which would seek to ensure that indeed quality improvement within the nursing environment is able to justify an improvement in patient satisfaction. The first recommendation would be having to promote engagement between stakeholders and departments. The engagement between the stakeholders and departments affected by the quality improvement project would help in highlighting some of the possible factors that are likely to affect the ultimate success of the project. By advancing the need for engagement, it becomes much easier to reflect on some of the key areas of concern, which would be essential towards creating a standard through which to change the way patients respond to the health care environment. The ultimate result of this recommendation is that the project would be in a better position of having to create a major shift in the way nurses deliver on quality care to match best possible outcomes.

The second recommendation would involve having to health care facility work towards promoting patient-centered care. Patient-centered care refers to an approach in which nurses and other health professionals would be expected to focus on the needs and demands set out by the individual patients to serve as key determinants of improved quality outcomes. The management may be expected to come up with a standard that would define the overall possibility of having to change the way patients are handled within the health care environment. That means that it will be much easier for the health professionals to focus on quality measures that would meet the demands from the patients. The expectation of this recommendation is that it will help bring a more advanced avenue through which to change the way nurses would define quality improvement as a measure of success in health care.
