Personal Self-Esteem Level
I consider self-esteem to mean more than the innate sense of self-worth. It is having the confidence in my ability to cope with challenges that I face in life, to think, and recognize that I am worthy of success and happiness ( Johnson, 2001) . From my personal reflection, I consider myself to have normal self-esteem because I have a combination of the characteristics of a person with high self-esteem and low self-esteem. More specifically, I am free from self-doubt, I have a high value in myself and my capabilities, and I always appreciate myself. In addition, I am confident that I can achieve anything that I put my mind on and my mind has no fear because I have the ability to accept my mistakes, learn from them, and benefit from situation or challenge. However, considering that I have a normal self-esteem level, it means that I also have some negative characteristics that can negatively affect my self-esteem. The most obvious characteristic is the fact that sometimes I set unrealistic goals that if unmet, make me feel inferior. Sometimes I also find myself being locked in bad decisions that risk reinforcing my own negative self-view. However, I have accepted my responsibility to improve my self-esteem level by working on the negative characteristics to ensure that I succeed in life
