Research encompasses the act of trying to provide solutions to problematic issues or a way of providing answers to questions to widen the knowledge base. Almalki (2016) defines research as a way of improving nursing care available to clients or patients in the public or at home. Scholarly sources are highly recommended in the researching processes as they provide a high-quality type of information. According to Ware and Mabe (2015), a scholarly article is a source written by academics or scholars in a particular field. Its purpose is to report on the expert's original research, thus making that information available to other researchers or experts in that field.
Scholarly sources use a type of language, which is of a high reading level or technical. According to Ware and Mabe (2015), the peer-reviewing process is what makes these documents unique, as the source undergoes through an official review process thus approved by other experts in that particular field. Google scholar's sources are credible as they include scholarly information, including professional societies, books, peer-reviewed articles, and academic publishers' court opinions (Ware & Mabe, 2015). However, it has some limitations on ambiguous content, publication date errors, and ghost authors that one ought to be careful about. Nonetheless, some of their articles have outdated information written before 2015, in which valid sources should be within the last five years in research.

In the process of collecting and analyzing nursing data, qualitative and quantitative research methods are employed. According to Almalki (2016), the methods chosen depends on the research reasons, which can either be providing answers to questions or testing hypothesis. Qualitative and quantitative methods are both means of collecting data. However, the qualitative technique concentrates on describing, interpreting, and understanding a particular social phenomenon, including feelings, beliefs, opinions, and other subjective surroundings (Almalki, 2016). On the other hand, quantitative research focuses on working a type of data that is statistically represented and well structured (Almalki, 2016). More so, it focuses on the objective type of information, which is easily controlled and predicted.
The application of scientific methods and evidence-based research in making healthcare decisions has both indirect and direct benefits. According to Almalki (2016), evidence-based research provides high quality and reliable information on what is likely to work and increases the likelihood of successful programs and policies being implemented. More so, it increases the healthcare workforce productivity while ensuring both private and public resources are well utilized.
