My project in a clinical setting would be to increase mental health awareness in the community as well as the health facility. First, as a project manager, there should be a clear objective, set timeline, resources to propagate the viability of the project, a project team and possibly project sponsors. All of these entail the project plan. In this context, the opportunity for a progressive and effective healthcare provision is to create programs that improve the mental health of the clients.
For this project, the members of the team should include the management team in the health institution, psychiatrist, mental health nurses, public health officials and health record officials. A project team should have team members with knowledge of the subject matter in the project at hand. They should also have the expertise to handle all aspects of the project, like in this setting, health records officers for records, the mental health nurses and psychiatrists to provide guidance on crucial matters that entail mental health among others. The project team should also be selected from individuals who are highly organized with strong communication skills. Stakeholders can also affect objectives positively and are therefore very crucial. They are the group of people that have an interest in the institution. The donors and stakeholders may include staff in the health facility, population that is served by the facility, individuals, and organizations that are aimed at improving the mental health. For this project, effective management needs the creation of a project charter, monitoring the progress of the project and developing skills to lead the project team.

In this context, the project charter reviews the health facility structures, approaches and processes for addressing mental health challenges, make recommendations and lead the implementation of change and improvement where warranted. Developing project management skills involves engaging myself in training programs on leadership, mastering issues that affect mental health and anticipating the challenges that may come with project management which include time, cost, poor performance, and a misplaced scope.
