Asthma is a respiratory issue that is characterized by difficulty in breathing, which is aspect that results from inflammation of the airways. The most common signs and symptoms portrayed by individuals with the respiratory issue include shortness of breath, whizzing, irritating dry coughs, and chest tightness. The respiratory issue can be triggered different factors such as allergy, infections, and pollution in the environment (Garden et al., 2018). Considering the nature of the respiratory illness, it is necessary to focus on different health promotion measures that would play a significant in increasing awareness of the condition. The health promotion measures enable people to have control over the illness by engaging in techniques to improve on their health and overcome the risk factors of the condition. When dealing with Asthma, it is necessary to focus on preventive measures that may help in dealing with the external factors that result in the development of the condition considering that there is no proven cure.

The first step that is necessary to prevent the illness entails engaging in proper identification of triggers. Asthma is a condition that has a wide range of triggers, which plays a significant role in the development of the condition. An individual with a medical history of the condition should focus on identifying possible triggers to avoid the recurrence of the illness. The second step that could be taken to prevent the condition involves staying away from allergens that may be responsible in the development of the respiratory illness. Garden et al. (2018) maintain that it is necessary to ensure that the environment is allergy-proof. The third step to prevent the condition involves getting a vaccine to enable the body to fight the condition effectively. Lastly, it is necessary to focus on engaging in measures to prevent colds considering that they play a vital role in triggering the development of the condition.
