TB is a globally contagious disease that spreads from one individual to another. In the US and Canada, there are several policies aimed at controlling the disease’s spread. For instance, in the US. The policy against the control of TB aims at preventing the infection’s spread through early detections and treatments. For the case of Canada, the policy aims at minimizing the disease’s burden among persons born in outside nations that have high infection incidents of TB and among Canadian-born Aboriginal individuals. With these policies, there is a need for a social change plan that incorporates a global perspective on the disease’s prevention. As a result, this impacts one’s role as a nurse leader.

The plan entails advising patients to adhere to medications as prescribed until a doctor takes one off them. This is meant to enhance the well-being of TB patients. Also, it is essential to adhere to all doctor appointments as it assists a doctor in tracking a patient’s progress. When coughing, individuals should cover their mouth with tissue (Robinson, 2018). This prevents the spreading of the disease, which is airborne. Besides, when one has been diagnosed as having TB, one must avoid public transports. This aids at keeping other people safe as any contact may result in the disease’s spread.

However, as a nurse leader, the best way to incorporate this plan into local practice, and the nurse leader role is to create awareness that sensitizes the public about the negative impacts of TB. This will enable the infected and the public to adhere to the above plan to prevent further spread. Besides, in local practice, this incorporation may result in the need for more nurses as they will be needed to overlook the patient’s progress all the time. As a nurse leader, one will be forced to work extra hours taking care of TB patients and other patients.

Eventually, incorporation of this global perspective results in social change in several ways. For instance, it results in social distancing and keeping away from other people to prevent the disease’s spread. Also, it results in the bonding of relationships between a doctor and a patient. In this case, the appointments may create room for doctors to get to know patients more, thus exploring their illness history. Additionally, adhering to prescribed drugs creates a sense of responsiveness, enabling individuals to become responsible in their social lives. For instance, the undertaking of duties.
