Fee & Stuart’s ‘How to Read the Bible for All its Worth’ presents very useful analytics on how a person can successfully read the different parts of the Bible. Out of the tools discussed, one of the most useful is the interpretation tool whereby the authors discuss the need for the reader to be an interpreter. My understanding of their text is that one needs to research the meanings of various texts in the Bible, their context, and the meaning of different words. Another insightful tool is the use of the historical placing of text in the precedent chapters. Understanding the historical setting in the different texts of the Bible allows one to understand the themes and teachings better.

The New Oxford Annotated Bible presents a notes and study feature that allows the contents of the Bible to be placed in the context of the modern world. That way, the contents of the Bible present it as a literature book whereby its use and applicability in the contemporary world are analyzed. Therefore, the Bible is a guide that can be used to understand history and its application in the modern world as opposed to the use for religious purpose only. The Bible is, therefore, not only a religious book but also a crucial source of literature to be applied in the social sciences today.
