In the recent years, there has been a proliferation of computer related crimes. These crimes entail gaining unauthorized access to digital personal information which is then used to commit all manner of crimes. There are various reasons as to why local law enforcement and municipalities face challenges when investigating computer related crimes. One of these reasons is lack of proper training to handle such kinds of crimes (Harkin et al., 2018) . In most cases, the focus of training is on how the law enforcers can handle the traditional crimes such as robbery with violence, drug trafficking, ordinary thefts among others while little emphasis is laid on training them on handling the contemporary types of crimes in form of cybercrime where cyber criminals use all manner of tricks to gain unauthorized access to personal information stored online. Lack of training means that the criminals will always be a step ahead of the law enforcers and stopping them becomes increasingly difficult.

Another challenge that law-enforcers face while dealing with computer related is lack of relevant laws and regulations to deal with such kinds of crimes (Katharina.kiener-manu, n.d.) . In most places, cyber crimes are an emerging threat and a result, there are no laws in place that guide law enforcers on how to deal with criminals engaging in such kinds of acts. As a result, most of the cyber criminals can take advantage of this loophole in order to continue with their wicked ways.

Local enforcement agencies should receive adequate training on digital forensics so that they are able to uncover the tracks of the criminals leading to their arrest. In addition, they should be provided with adequate resources which would improve their investigative capacity with regards to computer related crimes. Most local authorities are lacking in training and in terms of resources and this impairs their investigative capacity which makes it hard to catch and successfully prosecute these offenders.
