The Assignment method can be defined as an application employed to assign tasks to machines or any resources based on restrictions that target to minimize the total cost of the assignment made (Kabiru et al., 2017; Dong et al., 2016). In the problem, one is required to assign the widgets to the machines in a way that will minimize the cost. These widgets will be assigned on a one-to-one basis, in the most appropriate combination to minimize cost (Wang et al., 2019). Thus, each widget can only be assigned to a single machine. The excel calculation was completed through the assignment of widgets at the beginning of the schedule, with each subsequent steps working towards assigning widgets to the next machine.
Upon the allocation of each widget to a particular machine, the minimized total cost was acquired by calculating the total sum of the cost accrued in allocating a widget to each machine. The total cost upon the assignment was $24.
